A commission of my character Starlit Vole, or just Vole, done by
bruno.red .
Starlit Vole, otherwise known just as Vole (or Star, by just her mother) is a kob with an unusual backstory. Her parents are goblins that found her egg in their local forest next to a river. They confused it for a dragon egg because, well, it was. Despite it being day time, the sun shown down through the trees and reflected against her egg dazzlingly. She hatched on the same day and at the same spot she was found, but the catalyst for it was when her goblin father experimentally touched her egg; maybe it was destiny, or fat chance, but this was the deciding factor that changed the feral goblins' opinions about simply eating the egg.
Of course, out of the dragon egg came a baby kobold, which neither were expecting. They used half the egg to buy a farm plot outside the forest, closer to human civilization and further from their goblin tribe. Vole was raised in relative peace, often visiting the forest of her birth to play. Despite being born from a dragon egg she never really showed signs of being a dragon spawn unless you count her unusually determined or confident nature. Another feature that might correlate her dragon blood is her height, she stands at a whopping 3'5", which is above norm for kobolds (assuming you're going by DnD standards, where they're between 2 and 3 feet).
Vole's greatest aspiration in life is to become a fully fledged knight. Her preferred method of attack is just punching things, because she doesn't have too much brainpower for things like fancy swordplay. A close follow-up is a good headbash, which is why her front horns are so damaged. She does have innate magic, the power of the stars, or more simply she has light and heat magic. She never uses her magic though, so she might as well not even have it.
