Mia grinned as she threw her arms open, turning back to her flabbergasted crew as they stared at a large gaping hole behind her. Well… a hole might not be perfectly correct. The shimmering form of a portal or rift stood behind the cat girl, her tail flicking back and forth. Voices and mumbles from her colleagues around the room started to heighten as she walked up to it.
“Well… ladies and gents! We’ve done it! Welcome to the new world, brought to you by your one and only Mia Mida!”
A few resounding cheers suddenly shot out from that crowd as papers and clipboards flew into the air. Some of the scientists ran up to Mia and enveloped her into a big hug, she grinning at them as she found herself lifted upon their shoulders and taken out of the room. Others stayed behind to take on their specific containment procedures.
What followed was, for Mia, something she only ever dreamed of. A night of celebration to rival that of any one of those billionaire celebrities or some big nose politicians. Unfortunately for Mia, that came with the unfortunate side effect of the following day's hangover.
Opening her bleary eyes she winced at the sunlight, cursing this beautiful day and all those damned birds that flew through the air outside her window. What didn’t help was when she looked at her phone, she saw that she had a few missed voicemails. Opening her phone, her eyes went wide while listening to the voice of her boss telling her that, due to the nature of what she discovered, she wasn't on the project anymore.
With a fire in her eyes, Mia grabbed her coat and started making her way down to the large complex, making her way through the doors. Sliding her ID card to give access inside, she stepped in and looked around.
“Really… try to bar me from this and don’t even post security? Bunch of jackasses…”
Stepping over to the computer console, she grinned a bit typing in her still functioning passwords. She went into the files of the various machines, shutting them down and deleting all the data and files. She wasn’t going to let her life’s work be given to some schmuck just because she made the biggest discovery in history! The cat looked sadly at the portal as it started to shift and ripple, distorting out of existence. Walking up onto the platform, she looked at what remained of the rift, her nose twitching as she sniffed the air.
"It smells.. sweet? This new world we've found… I guess I’ll never know what existed in th-… wha-”
As she was lamenting however, she suddenly found a large, stiff cane jumping through the portal to wrap around her waist and like a comedian being pulled off stage, she was whisked into the portal just as it closed behind her.
Mia gasped as her stomach turned. Flying through that in between space and time, her body felt like it was going through rapid and multiple changes. She closed her eyes, daring not to open them and see the rift… until she found herself landing with a heavy flop onto a hard surface, knocking the wind out of her.
"Ooff… ugh I… what the…"
Opening her eyes, she looked down to see she was sitting on solid ground… or what appeared to be it anyway. Though it felt rather sticky and seemed to almost smell of something familiar…
"Is this… peppermint?.."
As she was pondering this, the catgirl blinked as a shadow fell over her and a bubbly voice spoke loudly in her ears causing them to flatten on instinct.
"Oh my goodness, you poor little gum drop! Are you ok? We heard a commotion out here but we didn't know what happened!"
Looking up at the origin of the voice, Mia blanched as she came face to face with a gigantic purple kangaroo. Looking at the gargantuan woman, Mia opened her mouth ready to say something but unfortunately for her she couldn't utter a single sound. A solitary squeak was all that met the roo as she fell back, falling into inky black unconsciousness.
It would take her a few hours to wake once again. The first thing she noticed was that wherever she was, it was much warmer. Sitting up she also noted she was inside of a room, opening her eyes, she nearly gasped. The room looked like something out of a movie she remembered as a child about a fantastical candy factory.
The walls and floors seemed to be made of a soft cotton candy, the doors seemed to be some sort of... cracker and the bars of whatever kind of cage she seemed to be in were thick chocolate... bars?
Sitting up, Mia stopped as she felt an odd shifting around her. She had her clothes changed while she was asleep and not only that but her waist seemed a bit different, looking down at her pastel-themed dress. The girl nearly grimaced; she was already dressed like an overgrown toddler but the thick somewhat sticky diaper stuck to her bottom made her whine and blush in indignation.
“What in the world is this!”
As if on cue with her voice, she was greeted by the door opening and that same large kangaroo she saw earlier entering. Smiling and bouncing over to the girl, she stood over the bars with a sweet smile on her face.
"Well well well! It looks like our little fallen sugar princess is awake finally! Hi there little darling, I'm Alice, a cozy little roo from Gumdrop Land. How about we go meet your mommy now, hm?"
Hearing the words this kangaroo spoke caused the cat girl to blush brightly, protesting and kicking her legs in the air as the woman picked her up. Mia was no match however, being manhandled as though she were nothing more than the child she was dressed as. She found herself sitting into the sticky pouch of the kangaroo, grimacing as she felt her legs cling to the gooey inside of the pouch.
“Now my dear, let’s go meet your new mama~”
Mia’s eyes went wide as she heard the roo say those words, looking up at the gargantuan beast and speaking out in a panicked tone.
“W-Wait a minute… my WHAT?!”
