What is love? Love to me is the little things. The evening strolls in the neighborhood, the bitter cold biting at your cheeks, nipping at your nose, and your paw clasped in another's... fueling the tiny fire that not only makes everything seem bearable... but beautiful.

No that has to be a photograph. What made you think it wasn't? He never said it wasn't...
It looked like he drew over it or did something to it.
Look at his other ones. He is great at landscapes but nothing even gets close to this level of detail - the tracks on the ice, the bricks on the houses, etc.
Of course, I may be wrong, but where did he even claim it wasn't a photograph originally?

Oy! Everybody just calm down. I did use my own photographic reference, but certainly not as a trace. I used them just purely for color picking, i just wanted the colors to be exactly evocative of the mood of the day when I took them. It wasn't traced, over or painted over. Every stroke on this painting was my own. (I used a mixture of custom photoshop brushes as well as SAI brushes)
And I have to add this just because you pointed them out yourself, but I have to proudly admit that all the little bricks and details on the houses as well as the tracks on the ice are details I specifically took time creating. The photos I used as reference, were shoddy pics off of my phone and didn't capture any level of detail like that.
I often snap photos of landscapes on my phone to use purely as color reference, and that is all I used them for in this image. It is possible and to be expected for artists to grow over time. An artist is always striving to better himself, and I try to improve myself with each piece that I do.
A lot of love went into this particular piece and I spent a great deal of time (probably 40+ hours) making it detail rich. And it had to be because i wanted it to stand up to being printed at high quality, and draw your eye in to examine the detail. The Full resolution of the image is 5700 x 3900 pixels.
I appreciate that you are critical of art and desire to know what went into making it. But I assure you, your assumptions are wrong on this one.

I am amazed that you were able to do that - I was clearly wrong. Take my disbelief as a compliment. I wouldn't have thought anyone would be able to do that except for a one-in-a-million artist with many decades under his belt and at least a month of work, but I was mistaken.
Sorry if I worded it badly. Keep doing what you have been doing! Your art is great! I've been watching your art for several years now.
I hope I haven't bothered you too much!

Totally beautiful. Now I remember why I adore Fluke-art again.
Love is also
.. setting the shower dial back at the temperature it was when you got in
.. bringing chikkin soup for coughing
.. a smooch now and then with a truly happy smile at having the one you love the most just being around

This is incredibly soft and sweet. I love how the atmosphere is seen as an obvious chill, where even the snow looks flaky and powdery instead of dense and water, but...the shape of the clouds, that cozy looking house, and the two figures walking make this such a warm image. This is very charming.
Hell yes! Love the UK road signs! I guessing this might be based in Scotland? ;)
You need to visit again! We all miss the Flukr here! Especially Louise! ;D
*snugs*

Wow! :O
I was worried that you might have lost your touch or something stupid like that, after I hadn't seen anything from you in so long. But geeeez was that silly worry!
This is absolutely gorgeous, and incredible piece of artwork Fluke, you really capture not only the beauty of the surroundings, but the emotions of those two guys enjoying it.
Awesome work Fluke, and it's sooo great to have you back, I can put you back in my favourite artists info now! <3

Maybe my husband and I should do this more often. Fur would make it easier. :P One just isn't inclined to go out when it's near zero. Still, it's quite romantic, especially with such a new snowfall. The surroundings are really stunning: so detailed and real they seem almost palpable. You are so brilliant... It put a smile on my face, so thanks, because I usually get very depressed in Winter. *hugs*
That is the definition that fits for me the most, too.
What is a love worth, that is only shown when it is the 14. of February?
Seeing the person i love makes me unable not to take the paw in mine, looking into his Face is, what i never can get fed on, and beeing able to be with each other is just...

*bows and applauds* Beautiful. Both the words and the picture.
You know... I'm really a cat-guy. But I think it's time I admit to you, that I've had "fluke" as backgrounds on all my desktops, laptops, mobile phones and login screens for years now. There's even a print in my living room, right in the middle, between all the tigers and lions.
Why?
Because I love the emotions in them.
Thank you!

There's too many comments already so I know this will get glossed over but I really, really love this and it really shines to me in more than one way.
I love the intricate winter ambiance, the fact that there is no one else around in the "shot" of this quiet town except for the cute young couple, and I love how much I can relate to the content of the drawing. I've had my share of relationship adventures and woes but it wasn't until a recently this past winter that I met a tiger which I was able to do something like this drawing: simply spending close time out in the world with no real objective in mind.
Twas a cold windy winter december day around a small town with me barely able to feel my toes. And yet, it was still wonderful, still adventurous (even if we didn't do anything crazy like climb a building! :P) and still warming. Just like this picture you have painted....
I feel like I would be a fool to not get this as a print and frame it!

Oh, oh my God. I was about to browse someone's gallery when I saw this in their favorites and went, "That's a nice photo. . . . .at least. . . .I think it's a photo. . . .yeah it's a photo." I was going to further browse this person's favs, BUT IT BUGGED ME TO NO END THAT I COULDNT TELL IF THIS WAS A PHOTO OR NOT! So I clicked on it and lost my mind. Wtf this is talent <3
The houses, perspective, the bloody tracks in the frackin ice, the pattern on the fox's sweater/hoodie!! JUST! WHAT! I DONT EVEN-!

Is this picture completely spontanious or is it based on the recent British winter???
Just seen the road sign and the (what looks like) white transit van in the drive off the house down the road. The three pot chimney's and lamp posts gave me that impression also(ignoring the road sign addy)
Then again i could be way off:)

I know everyone else has said it already, but before I saw it at full size I thought the background was a photograph. When I made it bigger I saw that you drew it and I could hardly believe it.
This is amazing, it's really cute, and beautifully done. Keep up the great work, consider yourself watched ^_^

Along with another 5000 people who have said this...but...wow...this is truely something special indeed. The attention to detail is astounding. I cant believe my birdy eyes!
With your kind of talent you have, i could totally see you getting a few amounts of cash or something with this kind of skill. Really well done!

This picture fills me with an incredible feeling... It's not just "aw how cute".
It truly just radiates this beautiful atmosphere that turns my insides upside-down!
Anyone who would not well up with emotion when taking in even tiny parts of this heart-warming scene is beyond my comprehension.
NIGGA DIS IS GOOD

When my mate showed me this picture I fell in love with it instantly, this is what I picture in my mind when we finally do get to be with each other, we both love winter time and I see him and I walking down the street in my little town in the snow holding each others paws, this is an absolutely stunning piece of artwork, I commend you highly on it. I know it took a long time to make and to present it to the fandom to view is wonderful of you... you have a given gift that not many have... and to this I say thank you very much. SB.
I doubt I can say anything that hasn't already been said, but you are very right about love, sometimes its the small things that matter. And just like you have proven in this amazing picture, the level of detail makes this brilliant and loving piece.Great job and keep striving to improve.
