I have to ask, where did you hear about these dogs, and what attracted you to that breed in particular? :)
I don't know many people who know about them outside of Guardian Breed connoisseurs, or the schutzhund/french ring community. So I'm really curious. (Don't mind me, I'm an uber dog geek. Just ask Vannie.... lol XP )

My father was a K-9 officer for many years and at one of the national competitions I attended as a child, I saw a beauceron and fell in love. The dog was amazingly intelligent, obedient, agile, and gorgeous even up against some of the best GSDs/mals/etc. in the country - stiff competition for sure! I did more research into the breed and found that they would be a very good fit for my personality, but had to wait until I had a house/yard/time for a big dog (my other guy is an elderly shiba inu who has been with me since college). I absolutely love Marrok - he is really smart, a quick study, and has a lot of goofy doof in his personality that keeps me constantly entertained. Definitely more dog than most people would want but if you like the guardian/herding/working dogs they are quite a breed!
ok, wasn't sure if that was the case of they'd just flopped over backwards. it generally isn't legal to dock ears or tails in the uk, so since moving to the us i find myself a little shocked by such things. i'm not the sort to start shouting at people or anything, it's a different country with different rules, and afterall they may simply have been adopted that way or have valid reason, but i remember seeing a dog with a docked tail at a party and couldn't help but feel (or maybe that's because they were letting it lick at and eat the ice for drinks). even so, it's a lovely looking dog, even if the ears make me wince a little bit.
Well, not maybe the photo that you were originally aiming for - but on the plus side, you got a classic tongue shot!
My cat seems to have an incredible ability to either blink or lick her nose right when I take a photo - and it tends to be several hours later before I notice!
Ah, the joys of trying to photograph pets.
