My attempt at this week's Thursday Prompt. This week, the prompt was simply the word "if". If I had any idea what I was doing, this prompt could have potentially gone in an infinite number of different directions, but this was what I came up with.
As always, please be sure to check
ThursdayPrompt for more.
I don't really have a full story for these two characters, but
Lu-Man gave me a few ideas I want to expand upon simply by reciting a Robert Frost poem. Basically, I'm just using their peculiar relationship for writing shorts for the prompt, but I do want to eventually turn their appearances into something more.

Actually, the ending to their story was also their very first appearance. It was my third attempt at the Thursday Prompt and the word for the week was "taker".
I'm afraid I hadn't read that one previously, but I have now. Quite the bleak and overbearing question he asks, but it certainly carries power that makes one reflect a bit.

I do agree with it being a message of encouragement but I also think the answer might vary from reader to reader. Perhaps it's just my interpretation of the delivery that makes it seem a bit... nihilist, I suppose? I personally think that's part of what makes it a powerful statement.

Thank you very much, I'm very glad you think so.
I'm still of the mindset that Troy is a bit bland and the mystery around the lizard probably isn't as interesting as I think it is in my head, so you saying they make for good characters makes me feel quite accomplished.
