I'm extremely curious about balut, but I know if I was presented with the opportunity I wouldn't be able to eat it, too many personal gross factors. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to try a mopane worm for the first time and I... well I don't regret it but I'm also not likely eating a second one.

Balut was surprisingly fine and not as gross as I remembered, but just the idea of eating a cooked (bird) fetus/embryo made me hesitate for a bit. The majority of the insides were this soupy liquid that's best eaten with vinegar or salt as well as sometimes-but-not-always rubbery hard egg whites.
