James is but a humble merchant, that travels the world far and wide, to sell his goods and the such to those who needs it. He's no fighter.
But that doesn't mean that he can't help you in other ways other then selling stuff. For example, he can carry all of your loot and gear, that you may pick up under your travels and the like. Plus, he's a damn fine cook.
