i have been art for 17 years and i still cannot Fucking Paint Clothes Yay
anyway this bozo's name is Vrotaara, he's a very old character of mine that I made in an ensemble of authors when I was younger, like 12 or so. When I first made him, his character was overly cynical, condescending, and arrogant. Now, I've retdonned him to be a symbol of grief, shame, and self-loathing.
Somewhat of a backstory for his new character:
His species, a polymorphic fantasy creature referred to as "Pherahs/Pheras" is persecuted by humans, both religious and secular, on account of them being either dangerous magic animals or "unholy demons". Regardless, they're a target to be preferably found dead (also, the pherahs in question aren't innocent either, but that's a story for another time).
Vrotaara, being born to hate the things about him he's unable to change (being born/hatched as a magical fluffy dragon thing), spirals into an endless cycle of shame and refusing to accept himself via isolating himself from all other pherahs in both his youth and his "priesthood". Believing his immortal soul is compromised due to what he is and what his people has done, he has given up everything to hold a priest-like occupation, thinking his devotion would save himself and his species from eternal damnation from the fantasy gods of his world.
Surprisingly none of his backstory is meant to provide any religious commentary. It's just more obvious to symbolize pathological grief and shame in the form of religious guilt.
