Second part of the trade with
MarcosRookdraw since I srewed up badly in the original trade.
This is an image of a mythical creature originated in Brazil´s rainforest named Boitatá, a gigantic Anaconda, that is eminating fire, but doesn´t burn the plants arround, in fact, it is a protector of the rainforest. (We could need an entire army of Boitatás to be honest, since what´s going on with the rainforest and how it is plundered by humans...)
To the right we have an anthro Boto-Cor-de-Rosa, a dolphin with pink skin, trying to hide from the Boitatá, not moving and holding the breath, because then the snake can not see or detect one at all

Look, for me being Brazilian, I loved the image. Boitatá, among other forest protectors, is one of the most dangerous, second only to Curupira. But I think you forgot a very important detail in the description that Boitatá after killing his victims he eats the eyes, which is the source of his flames. But it's really cool to see Brazilian mythology/folklore being represented by artists from abroad.
I think the only two counterpoints I found in the image are the boto's fin and beak, which should be a little bigger.
Any other information you want about Boitatá, you can ask me.

First I have to explain that the ancient indigenous people had a relationship with these beings of admiration and fear, if these entities were not provoked or the indigenous people answered their requests, the entities would help, but if they were provoked, bad things would happen. And here in Latin America, it is customary to make offerings to certain mystical beings to let them hunt or fish, in addition to asking for help. Usually these offerings are alcoholic beverages or cigarettes.
Curupira is an entity that protects the forests, mainly against hunters, having a humanoid body with red hair that can catch fire, and having an anomaly of having its feet turned backwards, in order to deceive the hunters. And interesting detail, he no have holes.
He is said to be the leader of the guardians of the woods. He is also considered a "demon" by the natives, who fear him greatly. (devil in our concept) He only allows them to hunt only if the forest is ready to provide what humans need and only what is necessary.
If they answered his request, such as helping an animal for example, he would help find paths, animals to hunt faster or help with some medicinal herb. Now, if provoked or if they hunt more than they could, he, in addition to making the hunters and other humans get lost, would kidnap, rape, kill and cannalize the bodies.
It is said that the only way to get rid of his rage without too many injuries would be to give him alcohol or a cigarette as an offering. And also make a kind of knot with vines so that he is interested and leaves you free until he solves. Or the simplest way, return what you took the most, and make three crosses with sticks and it in the ground, this would symbolize that you gave up that hunt.

That is really interesting.
The feature of having the feet turned backwards appears with some European fairy folk as well. Some kind of dwarf in the Alps (Switzerland and Austria) has also their feet turned backwards to fool greedy treasure hunters on false paths.
And as people in Europe still were convinced, that the earth would be flat like a plate, during medieval time period, their world maps sported some minor islands close to the border of the world, just before ships would fall off from the ocean. On said islands, they believed bizarr creatures to live, humanoids with two heads, headless ones, four armed ones, and also some that have their feet turned backwards.^^
Thanks for sharing the info.

Always interesting to come across a new mythological creature and also an aversion to the idea of serpents always being evil, the Boitata dangerous but ultimately benign as a protector of the forest.
At least hopefully the Boto-Cor-de-Rosa will have a better chance of evading detection until the snake has gone by, if a river dolphin has a a similar capacity for holding his breath as his oceanic cousins.
