Okay, a serious response: the algorithm isn't there for you. It's for whatever website is running it, and it's meant to keep people there or keep them coming back to their site.

Don't rely on them, just make the best comic you can. If an algorithm gives you a gift, don't waste it, do something to keep the new audience members coming back to your comic.

The algorithm certainly doesn't help, but things have been exponentially harder once there became no "one" source for anything in particular. Like, even the "news": SO many outlets now, it's hard to say one is better than any other one (except for obvious sensationalist ones).
