Dick Winters Tribute, WCOTP
We lost another hero that got very little public notice of his passing.
Major Dick Winters of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.
Many of you know him best from Steven Ambrose's book 'A Band of Brothers', later made into the Numerous award winning mini series "A Band of Brothers.
I regret never meeting personally this grand warrior. But he was truly one of the greats.
Rest Easy soldier...you earned it...And Thank you!!

To quote Maj. Winters:
"Evening allowed a few minutes of quiet reflection, With our outposts in place, I stretched out to catch a few hours sleep, even though the rattle of German small-arms fire continued throughout the night. the Germans were evidently not as tired as we were because they fired their machine guns all night and hollered like a bunch of drunken kids having a party. Before I dozed off, I did not forget to get on my knees and thank god for helping me to live through this day and to ask His help on D+1. I would live this war one day at a time, and I promised myself that if I survived, I would find a small farm somewhere in the Pennsylvania countryside and spend the remainder of my life in quiet and peace."
Lest we forget men like Maj. Winters.

This is the man, the story that moved me and motivated me to join the Army and work to be a paratrooper. People ask me why you wanna jump out of a plane, I tell them about the book, "Band of Brothers", true American heroes. God bless him, the nation has lost one of its best.

Maj. Winters is dead?
I feel kind of sad now. He was one of my personal heroes. I hope he is resting in peace.
I've looked at a lot of military-oriented works on FA. The number of anti-military comments is relatively small (as far as I can tell), and tend to be from the same individuals. Even then, those individuals tend to get bombarded by counter-arguments and warnings. I've only seen a few users make anti-military comments.
But I've only started looking up military artwork on FA recently, so I don't have MaverickCowboys's experience.
In any case, may this legend of the Screaming Eagles rest in peace.
