The name "Hedd Wyn" means "White Peace" in Welsh, and is most commonly associated with the poet Ellis Humphrey Evans. Very good at his passion, he was awarded the coveted Bard's Chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod. What the judging panel didn't know was that he had been killed a few weeks earlier, on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele, in the First World War. His works are taught in Welsh schools to this day, ensuring that his legacy of beauty through words and pacifism lives on.
