Ni Lu manages to deceive a lot of people who meet him because he's a bit overweight and looks like an easygoing sort.

Looks can deceive.

Lu is well-versed in several martial arts and the chub he's sporting is mainly for show; there are muscles under there. He's also Ni Hao's great-grandson, and the muscle end of his family's business. While he hasn't killed as many furs as his honored great-grandfather (Hao hit triple digits before finally succumbing to lung cancer) , Lu has a reputation in certain quarters.

He has a basement shooting range under his house in Hong Kong, and we see him here practicing with a Norinco QSZ-92 9mm pistol similar to Chinese People's Liberation Army issue.
