A natural illustration quality piece for
Pioneer-Mephitis of a Western spotted skunk doing what they do, getting into trees to look for eggs! It was an absolute joy to sink my teeth into a piece like this, and for such a wonderful client.

ohhh i get really heartboken over aus ecology like all the time... having a lot of aus friends who share wildlife pics w me doesnt help haha. theres a fair amount of mammals we are missing here too tho, we should have both mexican wolves and jaguars in range but theyve been largely exterminated. theres a museum/zoo here that caters specifically to the ecoregion we live in and they just recently got a group of mex wolves which has been very exciting
Ahh, that would be super exciting! We still have extant dingoes where I am (which isn't 'the outback') and it's always good to see them. One of these days I'd love to actually see a numbat and a devil in the wild - I've seen quolls and possums a plenty, but those two would be something special indeed. I've also been lucky enough to see some of our smaller, more obscure marsupials like phascogales and antechinus!
one of my pals is out in tasmania, theyve seen wild devils and gone out to catch velvet worms and i think those are one of the weirdest little things you got over there. i know theyre not exclusive to australia but they dont have any range in north america outside of the most southern reach of mexico ;__;
