Over ten years ago I scrubbed my gallery of my oldest art because I hated it so much. It went largely unnoticed because I didn't have a big following then. It was the only purge I ever did, and while I promise you're not missing any actually good art, it does mean you don't get to see the full progress I've made since really starting art in the year 2000.
So here it is, the first furry drawing I ever did, ever. It's the very same Jade. It's been over ten years since this file has been been seen by human eyes and now as a special treat you can see it again.
Here's to another 23 years

Dissonance I... I abandoned. But I feel like I ended Faulty Logic on my own terms. I mean it ended, maybe sooner than people would have liked, but I don't think I left anything undone with it.
I try not to think about how badly I messed things up with Dissonance. It was a lot of effort that really only ended in hurt fans. I feel very bad about it. Worse, I hid from my failure for a very long time and basically removed art from my life during that time. The silver lining is that every mistake I made in Dissonance was a lesson that is helping making Recursion a success. But I wish... I really wish I had learned those lessons some other way, and that it wasn't my fans who suffered for it.
I'm sorry.

Faulty Logic was never really a continuity. It was a series of vignettes and product reviews that held together with a common thread running through it. Dissonance was a real story with a beginning and, unfortunately, an end. I won't pretend to know what happened to it, but you seemed to be in a lot of pain after a while. You were working on it during a very difficult era in your life.
My writing (mostly available on this site) went through a similarly tumultuous period. About six years ago I lost the best job I ever loved. My world was crashing down around my ears and all of that was reflected in my writing. I'd love to finish the Tanuki story someday but I can't even bring myself to reread it. My work went in another direction, but after a while I realized that the only people reading it were the others responding to the weekly writing challenge (cue polite applause). There are great and wonderful stories playing out in my head but I lack the motivation to commit them to the word processor.

Do not quote the Old Magic to me, I was there when it was cast.
But seriously, it's really cool to be able to directly compare the first tentative steps to the polished, professional present. We're our own worst critics.
What I'm salty about is how your 23 year older printing is somehow better than mine presently, and mine's gotten better from how it used to be in that same timeframe!
