mewtwo being the only one of it's kind hasn't been proven false or true though that depends on whether we're talking about the anime,the games or the manga.In the anime it's very clear there are 2 mewtwos,the original from the first movie and another recreated by team plasma ( the one with the female voice ). In the games it's been well established that human engineered pokemon do get recreated in other regions outside of it's point of origin since you get a silvally in galar that is separate from the ones mentioned in sun and moon.The mewtwo found in the pokemon village cave in kalos could be completely separate from the one in cerulean cave.
