At least it was a huge difference in animation since the first game. The first game was a bit more difficult on normal than on 2. But regardless, it's still fun. I just love the vehicles. :]

My biggest problem with Half-Life 2, though I do enjoy the game, is the constant pauses to load the next map area. It's like, seriously, I'm running from some intimidating force or something and right in the middle of it the game pauses to load the next region. It totally ruins the flow and immersion.

I don't remember any loading during combat or high stress scenarios. It's pretty good with the loadings being in calm, enemy-free hallways usually... And personally, I love half life 2... But will admit to there being difficult to manage stages that were easy to get lost in.... But that's all I can see wrong. I hope ep3 or hl3, however it'll be titled, is redeeming for you...

Think about it. Half life 2 was enjoyable for most if not almost all people out there, it was entertaining and did bring some new elements to the table, compared to most crap that is released on the wii is. Not mentioning any titles that happen to have n64 graphics.

Half Life 2 was still a step up and did things any other games haven't thought of yet and that entertained people, so can you honestly say that a game that is good in so many many peoples eyes be truly bad only because of your own perspective of it?

Why i'm defending this particular title is because it was something out of the ordinary....when it was released. Today it wouldn't hold up much at all.

but when you think about it, it's just another "title" of a sequal. I mean, the game wasn't short, and it doesn't do the back to the future or Monkey island remake episodes deal. hmm, honestly I can see what ya mean, it seems like they only released half life 2 to get in the cash, oversimplifying enemies and the story lines to try and make the player feel better about themselves , honestly its like they started with a good storyline then said ok what can we cut out of this to make it more of one track game.

I know! most annoying thing to that I found is how they took out the health bar, how the heck are you meant to know when your down to your last few hits without it? also it seems a lot more one track than the other fables, ya know not letting ya do what you want through the game like the others.

I think the most disappointing thing for me was the mansion. Oh wait, Im sorry, its a castle, but I was fooled by the fact that ITS A MANSION ON THE INSIDE. what the fuck happened to Fairfax Manor? I squeed when I got it! It was epic and it was an actual castle inside and out and didnt look lame! D< God, even the throne room is lame and the throne seems out of place and awfully low to the ground.

yeah I know just what you mean, its like they cut a lot of corners just to get it out on schedule and ruined the end product, the general idea and storyline they had was good, the way they skipped through it all making it so I finished the game in one damn sitting, definitely not good.

I also found the way you upgrade shit to be weird and no katanas was just awful, but everytime Id open a chest and it'd go into that overdramatic power up animation, it was always lol when I'd have youtube ready and time it just right to have He-Man yell "I HAVE THE POWERRRRRRRRRRR!"

Half Life 2 I can agree with you on actually, it was confusing for me but for others it was amazing. BTW, the PC version I believe HAS Multiplayer in it.

Now I enjoyed Half Life 1 and 2, but yes the vehicle section are annoying and they simply repeated it in Episode 2. However, I did enjoy seeing the remains of City 17, the battle up the Citadel and going through the ruins of the Citadel and City 17 in Episode 1. Episode 2, to me, just seemed lacking somewhat.

I enjpy half-life 2 but there are many things I find SOOOO wrong with it, but I enjoy the mystery of the game and figuring out what happened.

I like Half Life 2 but the vehicle chapters were EXCRUCIATING. And oh my God, there's TWO of them...

The weapons were shitty too. When I look at all the cut weapons, storylines, enemies, etc. it makes me wish they'd made it like that instead. I'd MUCH rather use a laser cannon or an acid gun than a stupid pistol that has 2% accuracy and a magnum that has little to no ammo.

Alyx has also become completely helpless in the Episodes. She went from "Hey Gordon, I saved your ass! Again!" to "Oh noooo, Gordon, help me! If only I knew kung fu or had a gun!"

I did try Swat 4 after watching a Lets Play of it and I found it enjoyable enough on just how many ways to die there were and how easy it is to die and the random AI. but thats a minor one

Your other complaints I think can be explained by "it was released 7 years ago". In 2004 this game was goddamn incredible, the most amazingly physics-realistic and beautiful game ever, plus it was released in a time before FPSes completely flooded the market. Now it is obviously very dated. Also, first game to use the Source engine ever, so probably a lot of flaws here and there with it being brand new and all at the time (as opposed to them just using the tried-and-true Quake engine with HL1).

That only saves the game by, like 1% 8I. 7 years isnt quite that long back and there were a ton of games that came out in 2004 that were done better I say, but you do offer very valid points =3

one time on a old quake multiplayer game for the pc someone offered money to anyone i nmtheg ame that could kill me and prove that they did. back then i was how you say a big recluse so no one knew where i was or what my contact information was soo they couldn't backstab me blah blah blahhh. now you want funny? i had software that let me make a remote controlled bot on quake so i can put his ass anywhere on the map i wanted. I put him in one of my fave sniping zones. I log in as my real alias account which none of the pro users knew even the guy offering the money was a true to the word elite. I told him i knew where i was gonna be and he said if he sees my user account go offline with a death point on its profile he would pay me. i agreed and left the chatroom soooo i go to the place i left the bot still there randomly shooting people it locks onto to make it look like me. I shoot it in the head and because it was logged in as me it got a death point. i go back to the chatroom and the guy calls me in for a private chat. he askes me for my paypal i give it to him. i look and paypal was given 40$ i about shit myself!!! i decided to level with him...after the time period to make disputes was up so even if he made a merchants dispute on paypal they will just tell him that the time he had to make his dispute is up he would get shit. I told him as the hated account the one he payed to kill. I told him how he liked knowing i was dead for once. he said he loved knowing it was a newb that killed me. I told him no. it was no newb. it was me! he went into a all caps overload and fast typed so many hat essages that the security system picked up on his typing and actually banned him permanently from the game for spamming!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I miss those days i really do but now my time i used somewhere else and besides most players on quake of elitist fuck head mexicans that yell fuck yeah i pwed yo ass in their language. not saying i mind it but once i game i love lets people like that in well...meh i stopped playing.

I meant that perhaps it doesn't hold up well today, but the game is ten years old and back then it was a new thing to tell a story rather than just play a game. On top of this it's not supposed to be hard (so complaining about that is pretty fucking stupid). This was the game that lead to games like Last of Us, and Fallout 3.
