It's canon that this is how Shadow takes his coffee.
The three Laws of Eggman Robotics are:
1: A robot shall not hurt Doctor Eggman, or through inaction allow Eggman to come to harm.
2: A robot must obey all orders given by Doctor Eggman, except when such orders come into conflict with the first law.
3: A robot must protect its own existence as long as this does not come into conflict with the first or second laws.
It's just a little additional hardwiring to make sure Egg-Tech can't hurt Daddy if they rebel, while being flexible enough to allow intelligence. The intelligence allowed is that Orbot and Cubot know that Sonic would be bluffing, but Shadow has just waded through dead mercenaries and will totally cave in Eggman's head with that coffee pot if they don't... ahem... spill the beans.

Oh, like Eggman would know. And his robots? They likely know a whole lot less than he does! And Knuckles is the one who abducted and raped her. Sonic will never find out the truth, and even if he did, it would no longer matter. I can predict right now, that Amy will have a HORRIBLE ending for herself.
It's plausible. Eggman has no incentive to tell Sonic straight away, it'd be better for him to hold onto that nugget of information until they're fighting so he can demoralize him and defeat him. And as a bonus, the longer she's with Knux, the more physical and psychological damage she suffers and the less of a fight she can put up to Eggman if need be.
