Commissioned in 2580 for the United Earth Forces Navy, the Arachnid Class warship served in many distinctive military campaigns, earning distinctions and honors to it's designers and their crews. One such ship, RD3-14-A, the Valkyrie Rose, was intended as an assault ship for heavy ground assault campaigns. With limited lift capacity for a ship her size, her role was more of one for a Blitz Krieg approach, hammering front lines before dropping a squad of troops and lifting out again. With six heavy turrets mounted on hardpoints around her hull, she's capable of hitting many targets around her, above, below and all around. With the twin drop-tanks mounted on articulated armatures situated within the outer nacelle clusters, she can reinforce allies in the ground with those same heavy turrets.
Each drop tank comes standard with powerful comms antennae, radar, power source, sensor arrays and their own engines. These might be too big to travel through tight streets, but in open field combat, it isn't unusual to see a few dozen of these stationed around an operations base.
In each fleet that features a squadron of Arachnids, you'll find up to 14 ships per fleet. The Valkyrie Rose was the 14th hull in the Third Raider Drop-ship fleet, and is designated as an Assault type. (Raider Drop-ship, 3rd fleet, hull 14, Type A.)
