Kari woke up from her sleeping bag, and stretched a bit, then looked in her ragged bag of clothes and put on some shorts and a sweater. Listening about the only thing that was active as a TV down the way, everything else was quiet. She finished putting on her clothes, and then walked out into the hall. Heading into the living room, she could see Sera out of her disguise and in a lovely red robe with golden fluff.
"Morning Sera." Kari said, but she couldn't get her purple, cat-monster friend to turn around, "Sera, Hey..." Sera's eyes were glued to the TV. "What's going on?" And she walked closer to see the TV as well.

On the TV was news about a building that was on fire the other night. After the fire was put under control they found the bodies inside were all brutally murdered before they were burned,
"That's disturbing..." Kari said, slowly turning to Sera "You think what I think?"
"He's here..." Sera said, "...He followed us all the way here..."
At that Kari got closer, "Don't talk like that, if that was the case, why didn't he come here?" She said and then grabbed Sera, "And you know just like I do that it's not Matthew doing this."
"Yeah.. You're right, It's still terrifying." Sera said, "We were sent here because it was suppose to keep us away from this chaos and the chase."
"I know, but this could mean something more." Kari said, "This could be our chance to save him."
"Save him?" Sera looked at her with ears back, "Kari, I know how you feel about him, but what makes you think we could bring him back. He could try to kill us."
"Then why didn't he?" Kari asked, "If that killer person inside Matthew wanted to it could have, but it let us live." She looked back to the news, "I know it's scary, but I think something Matthew said, convinced that thing to not to kill us."
"What could Matthew have said?"
Kari thought back on it for a while, closed her eyes, tried listening to what was said back then," ...I'll do anything... Just don't hurt my friends... " She opened her eyes and looked to Sera, "That's what he said to it."
"So... You're saying he gave up control to it to spare us..." Sera looked at her puzzled still, and sighed, "Kari, I do wanna help him, but are we the people to do it though?"
"I trust us over the police?" Kari said, "Didn't you hear how strange Tori's father was acting? I'm pretty sure he and the police will kill Matthew before they try and detain him."
"You're not seriously thinking of going after that lunatic." From behind them, Tori stood in the hallway, arms and hooves crossed as she leaned on the wall, "We're suppose to stay HERE, for our protection. It's not just my dad who's gonna be mad, either, if we leave this place."
"You'd seriously let him die?" Kari started to glare
"You really think you could find him out there?" Tori said, looking back, "You think one lady and her friends could track an insane murderous man better than an entire police force?"
"I can try." Kari said, her voice getting a bit shaky, "I have to try, he needs us..."
Sera got up and walked over to Kari, "Kari, I understand how you feel about him." She rested a hand on her shoulders. "We have to leave this to other people though."
"I can't though... I just can't.." Kari said, "I'll go out there and look for him, with or without you."
Tori glared at her for a moment, and as Jake started to walk out of his guest room, she groaned, "Fight We'll go search for a little while, but we need to be back in an hour before people find out we're gone."
Kari looked to Tori rather surprised, "You'd.. come along?" She started to smile, "You're not as bad as I thought, Tori."
"What's that suppose to mean?"
