This is one commission that I can't believe I'd ever get from Tracy Yardley, artist for Sonic the Hedgehog comics with Archie and IDW! I've read his Sonic the Hedgehog comics since they were under Archie, though I have to catch up with IDW. I never thought I'd ever get a chance of receiving this commission from him.
I hope everyone enjoys the pic. With my short story below, I hope I've made Sonic the Hedgehog and Street Fighter fans proud. I know, Akuma wears sandals. However, he has a barefoot mod in Street Fighter V and was barefoot in the Street Fighter Alpha anime movie. In the end, it's my commission and I do what I want with my commissions. Hey, everyone has a right to be as brutally honest as they want in my comments section.
This commission from Tracy Yardley is literally a dream come true for me.
VRRRRRR came from each conveyor belt on the far side of ARK. On the metal floor at the other side stood a blue hedgehog wearing a red gi with torn sleeves & cuffs as well as brown sparring gloves around his bare hands. His black belt blowing slightly to his left side from the cold air blowing in the opposite direction. He lifts his right arm, makes a fist, then punches the palm of his other hand three times with each hit more hard than the last. Every step from his bare feet on that metal floor made a loud noise that could be heard throughout the station. The blue hedgehog moved his right arm straight up and backward in a pinwheel motion with a smile on his face.
“So…” said Sonic the Hedgehog. “I don’t suppose you’ll let me pass through here?”
Sonic stared at his rival wearing a blue gi with rope tied around his waist. His back was facing Sonic. The black hedgehog’s eyes were closed with his arms crossed against his chest. He stood still for a few seconds, then opened his eyes. He slightly raised his head, which made the beads around his neck slowly jostle.
“‘’Tch…what was your first clue?” said Shadow the Hedgehog as he turned his head to the right. Sonic only had a second to see the right side of Shadow’s face before Shadow raised his leg and stomped his bare foot harshly on the flat surface. Sonic felt the floor shake but kept his balance.
“Geez Shadow, could you be any heavier?” said Sonic in a sarcastic tone while looking at his rival and slightly tilting his head. Shadow rolled his eyes, then looked at Sonic and said, “I can’t wait to finally shut that big mouth of yours.”
Sonic chuckled, raised one arm close to his chest and the other near his stomach. He clenched his fingers and slightly jumped a few times while staring at Shadow, “And it’s obvious why your game didn’t get a sequel.” Shadow’s eyes suddenly widened and upper body leaned back a little. He growled as his facial muscles tensed. While his brow lowered, he raised his left arm close to his cheek. He made a fist, then moved his right arm near his waist. They stared at each other for a couple of seconds without making one step towards each other.
Suddenly and without warning, Sonic jumped in the air. He stretched his arms up high while staring at the ceiling. He bent down and quickly formed himself into a ball. Shadow took a step back and stared at the blue hedgehog. He pressed his fingers against the palm of his hands and squeezed his thumbs while spreading his arms apart from each other. REEEEEEE became louder and louder with each spin made by Sonic and was then followed with CHACHOOOOM while Sonic instantly launched himself towards Shadow. Sonic moved his own body out from a ball and launched a kick at Shadow. Sonic aimed his foot at Shadow’s head, but Shadow lifted his right arm. A muffled BAM was made when Sonic hit Shadow’s arm, and a red-tinted aura resonated from that same area on Shadow’s arm. Sonic landed on the ground and only a few inches across from Shadow. Shadow grinded his teeth and launched a jab at Sonic’s stomach.
“OOF!” came out of Sonic’s mouth at the same time his eyes bulged, his arms splayed out, and his feet bent up. Shadow followed his jab with a medium punch that caused Sonic to go “UNF!” and his body to give the same reaction as before. Shadow ended his 3-hit combo with his own kick that he launched up at Sonic’s face.
“AGH!” was all Sonic could say when Shadow’s right foot connected with the side of his face. That kick was so powerful that Sonic’s own body launched from the ground, landed on the metal floor, bounced up, then fell back down with a resounding thud. Sonic’s right arm rested on the ground with his other draped across his stomach. The back of his head on the ground with his legs stretched out. Sonic grunted as he got back up and rubbed that spot where Shadow kicked him with the back of his arm. Shadow kept his stance with his right foot forward and arms at his chest. Sonic thought Shadow would capitalize, but he didn’t walk one step towards him.
Shadow loosened the strain on his muscles, leaned his head slightly back and said “Heh, I still can’t believe you’re the one who got that invitation to Smash.” Sonic momentarily froze on the ground at that comment but chuckled while standing back up. Immediately after Sonic stood on his feet, Shadow ran towards him. Wasting no time, Sonic jumped and flipped backwards. In mid-air, Sonic extended his legs and moved his heels together, then shouted “ Mōretsuna ashi!”
A burst of blue energy that resembled two feet suddenly came from Sonic and headed towards Shadow. Shadow’s eyes widened, and he attempted to lift his arm. However, Sonic’s attack connected. Shadow’s body bent forward, his arms stretched out, his feet bent upward, his eyes bulged, and his mouth puckered. Sonic was already standing back on the ground but jumped into another spin dash. This time, he spun even faster and his quills hit Shadow’s body once with a “BAM”, twice with a “POW”, and thrice with a “CRUNCH”. Each hit made Shadow’s body react the same as before while skidding in the far back of the room. After the third hit, Sonic bounced off of Shadow, landed right in front of him, bent backwards with his feet in the air and yelled “Kōsoku furaingu fīto!”
In less than a second, Sonic launched a kick from the ground under Shadow’s face that made a resounding “POW!” echo throughout Space Colony ARK. While Shadow’s body launched slightly in the air, Sonic followed suit with another kick from his other foot at Shadow’s chest that made a “CRACK!” In a flash, Sonic’s body became a flash of swirls forming a tornado while Shadow’s body went higher in the air. As soon as those swirls were around Shadow’s head, Sonic landed one last kick right underneath Shadow’s mouth where a burst of blue energy spread all across Space Colony ARK. Sonic landed with both feet on the ground, but Shadow groaned loudly as he fell on his back. His own body bounced from the ground, then landed again in a prone position not much different than how Sonic landed earlier.
Sonic stood upright with a smile, winked, and wagged his finger while staring at Shadow. “Now…now, it’s no contest why I’m the only one selected to compete in Smash.” While Shadow was on the ground, a crimson red aura started showing around his body. He didn’t move, and Sonic still taunted without even noticing him. “This is why I’m the best fighter, and why you should stick to being an assist trophy.” Sonic looked up and shrugged while Shadow slowly got up with that red aura emanating from his body.
“After all, you only have that ONE move that I hate to say isn’t even in the top 10 with assist trophy rankings and…Yyaaghh!” said Sonic whose red gi was grabbed by Shadow. Shadow pulled Sonic towards him and stared fiercely with anger in his eyes. Sonic’s eyes widened while his mouth was still open. “You mean THIS move?!” Shadow pushed Sonic back, rose his left arm, moved his right arm down, and his aura glowed even brighter. All Sonic did was hear two words from Shadow,
“CHAOS CONTROL!”
To the naked eye, flashes of red light bursted from where Sonic and Shadow stood. Each flash of light was Shadow attacking Sonic with a punch to the face, kick to the stomach, stomp to the foot, headbutt, elbow to the nose, spin dash to the chest, a kick to the back of the head, and several more blows that couldn’t be seen due to the red aura covering them. Sonic screamed around 30 times that could even be heard outside Space Colony ARK.
Suddenly, the lights and sounds stopped. Red mist somehow formed from Shadow’s aura that covered the area. Once dissipated, Shadow stood triumphantly with his foot on Sonic’s chest. Sonic laid on the ground with his arms and legs stretched out. Shadow’s arms were crossed against his chest while his symbol actually glowed bright red behind him. While pressing his foot on Sonic’s chest and stomach, Shadow stared across from him.
“Was there any doubt?” said Shadow but wasn’t looking at Sonic. He stared across from him as though someone were watching him. He felt some movement underneath his foot. Shadow stared at Sonic who looked upset and tried getting him off.
“H-hey!” said Sonic. “W-what happened to two out of three?!”
“Heh!” said Shadow. “Didn’t you read the rulebook? Only one round in story mode…BUT!”
Shadow moved his arms away from his chest and clenched his fists. One arm was higher than the other while he growled slightly. “You’d better know your place or you may not even walk out of here on your own two feet.” Sonic had only one eye open while straining against the pain and Shadow’s foot on top of him. He pressed his fingers on the ground, moved his right foot on the ground, and left the other stretched out. He growled at his rival and only one thought popped in his head.
“CONTINUE?” Sonic wasn’t sure why but felt as though a button was necessary to get back up. He may only have 10 seconds until he passes out from Shadow stepping on him. Does he admit defeat and lay under Shadow’s mercy….or does he knock Shadow off and show that he won’t give up until the end of him?! Only ones that may decide that is you.

I'm glad you liked the art.
I'm very grateful that Tracy Yardley accepted this commission. At the time, I wasn't aware that he got negative responses in the past with artwork that showed feet or tickling. I noticed when he posted this one that some did not like it solely because he showed their bare feet. He didn't have to work on it, and I am grateful that he did even when he knew some negative reactions would come towards his accounts.
I admit that I didn't review Ken and Akuma's fighting styles before writing the story. I reviewed video of Street Fighter IV (I think it was that one) with Ken vs Akuma, then wrote this story as a "What if" this was a Sonic the Hedgehog game/universe with a Street Fighter theme. I've imagined Sonic and Shadow as Street Fighter characters years ago where I thought it'd be cool to see them in those outfits. I went meta referencing Smash Bros. when I thought that the taunting was funny and fit the story.

Of course I like the art dude and they both look cool in there karate outfits. This is a good Street Fighter reference and one of the best plots I ever read. :D
I figured some people don't like what he draw on this art because of there humanoid feet. Its ok that some people don't like it, but at least some people do. I also like it myself if you asked me. I really do and it fits good on them. Sonic characters fits good with humanoid feet. They really do. Because in some official media, we seen Sonic characters with humanoid feet on them. like Sonic Underground and some Sonic Archie comic issues on few occasions. Here is the proof and example during that media which can be seen here in these examples.

Also, Yeah I always put humanoid feet on all of my Sonic OCs and characters that I made. I always do because I don't do paws and blobs feet on my characters. I really don't honestly. However, some people prefer the humanoid feet and paws feet on there characters. But, I'm ok with them doing that and I really have no problem with that.
But some people who draw or do Sonic fan characters prefer to have their Sonic OCs with humanoid feet honestly and I think It fits perfect on them on each Sonic OCs.

I hope my previous response didn't imply frustration or sadness. I appreciate your feedback and am grateful that you dedicated time to comment as well as review the pic & story. Trust me, all is Great! I'm also glad that you enjoyed the story.

I'm always intrigued when they've shown bare humanoid feet on Sonic characters in several media. They went with foot blobs in Sonic X & Sonic Forces. I think they showed barefoot characters in Sonic Boom but weren't really humanoid (I think they were more like CGI TMNT version from Nickelodeon series).

Yeah, the story got that nice Karate Kid or Samurai Jack feeling to it honestly. I still love the plot on how you put it for this art.
Some people have no taste whatsoever. They really don't. The first time that Sonic characters have humanoid feet with 5 toes on them started back in Sonic Underground and one of the Sonic Archie comics issues. Yeah, that's where it first started on a couple of those few media's honestly. Yeah. I don't mind having all Sonic characters with humanoid feet with 5 toes honestly or with 3 toes paws on them. I really don't mind at all honestly. I have no problem with it because it looks good on them for each of them. I know its not officially canon, but it almost was for a short time on few occasions in the Sonic media. Some people and artist don't mind the humanoid feet or 3 toes paws on them, but some do not for some reason.
As for me, I'm always ok with Sonic characters to have humanoid feet on them. Even on Sonic OCs and it looks good on them and much better that way on them. To be honest again, I always stick with 5 toes humanoid feet on all of my Sonic OCs. I always do because humanoid feet fits well on them and I stick by it honestly. Having Sonic characters and of course Sonic OCs with blobs feet is just really boring and overrated honestly. It really is. Each Sonic characters deserved to have humanoid feet on there feet. They deserved that completely. I still have no problem with it and I'm cool about it. Some artists are still ok and cool about it but some don't. But, the blobs feet on them, I'm not cool about it at all.
These are my OCs that have humanoid feet on them and it fits good on them. No shame in that. Besides Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse have humanoid feet on them with no paws on them. As for Eggman, I know he is Human that has humanoid feet. Yeah I get that a lot.
