My bat sona finally has a name and a ref sheet. So I'm happy to officially introduce to you: Nightslash (the bat)
He's a large anthro-fied bat with huge membranous wings, mainly based on the California Leaf-Nosed Bat. However, he's a bit of a hybrid, as he has traits from different bat species, like the long tongue from megabats and the teeth and IR capabilities from the Common Vampire Bat. Of course, his body is a combination of the best nature has to offer, and even better.
Thanks to the antrofication, he cannot hang upside down that easily... But hey, that's a price he's willing to pay.
Don't be afraid by him, although he's large and sometimes (very) lewd, he's generally friendly and helpful. Be aware that he likes hugs!
I also updated the submission tags of my older submissions featuring him to include the keyword nightslash_the_bat.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
My goal was to design Nightslash as an anthro but wanted to preserve most of the species' features while adding additional cool ones.
The Common Vampire Bat's nose/upper lip has IR sensing capabilities that assist finding/seeing the location of blood vessels, so that it knows where to bite to get blood coming out easily. It's independent from normal sight and echolocation (which is active sonar) and only works in very close proximity. I imagine it's similar to "feeling" heat for humans, just more precise?
Some bats can echolocate in both modes, constant and variable frequency, other species can only make use of one and megabats can't echolocate at all (some can, but they create clicks with their tongue). Both modes have advantages, like constant frequency allows them to figure out the direction the target moves, whereas variable frequency gives more details of the target. It's a highly fascinating topic, especially as some bats tend to interfere each other and some moths even evolved to jam the signal.

Bat rolls "shortest range IRST ever"
Has to nuzzle target to find heat spots
Also I didn't know that about moths, the fact that animals have evolved a whole spectrum of Basically EW (but without the electronic) techniques, even if they're not as sophisticated as human EW, is really impressive.

Yeah, they gotta find that sweet spot where blood comes out the easiest~ They then scrape away the fur and skin at that position with their extremely sharp teeth and use their tongue to get the blood (which works almost on its own thanks to the capillary effect). Their saliva contains blood thinning and anesthetic properties, which keeps the blood flowing and helps to avoid being detected. Their target doesn't feel anything. They need to come back next day, that's why they're so gentle!
Vampire bats rely on blood, Nightslash does not. I guess that makes him less of a monster?
I'm not a biologist, so I don't really understand all the things that go into evolution, but it's really impressive. The fact that they evolved to get airborne in the first place, wow!

I love your batty passion! Let me see if I can add to your batty bag, you know there was a lovely spot in my old neighborhood but you had to go through a bat cave so to speak, (scary underpass) to get there, on the other side was a paradise tho…
They taught me, that hey buddy, only the brave hearts can pass through these parts, I know cause they ‘teek’ (bat noise) if they don’t want you to pass, but they let me pass! 😮💨
So when I see bats I’m like, you know…they are like guardians of the dark, they understand what’s good n bad for ya cuz they can navigate the night with different senses. Could make for a lonely person who doesn’t understand his abilities to heal those he knows have wounds. If only the world had this real bat to go around and target 🎯 sick wounds and heal them. I mean his senses wouldn’t make sense in a world he doesn’t understand, but what if he’s from another world he just needs to tap into,…now that would make one sweet aSs bat. But of course this bat would have to long to know this world…wonder if he’s curious? Who else could transmute his monster into a healing bat…plus a bat that size n caliber would be pretty enticing 😼, too much?
