Halili is born in the Mdogo mob as one of the many children of Morowa and her consort, Kiros. She had a fairly normal upbringing, helping to look after her younger siblings and partaking in sentry duty while the family was out foraging. Eventually, Halili feels the urge to leave her mob to find breeding opportunities elsewhere and departs from the Mdogo with her two sisters Braambos and Nguruwe by her side. After meeting a pair of roving male brothers named Ago and Darnel that had a juvenile named Mende in tow, the six meerkats form a new mob that they name the Udevu.

Upon starting the new mob, Halili and her sisters compete for the role of dominant female, which results in the tough Halili claiming the title for herself and taking Ago as her mate. Halili sadly miscarried her first litter, but her two sisters were able to boost the new mob's numbers by having pups of their own: Braambos by breeding with Darnel and Nguruwe by breeding with a passing rover. Ago and Halili eventually have their first successful litter and would go on to have four more afterwards, one of which contained a tiny pup named Maua. She was the runt of the litter but Halili saw something special in her little daughter, feeling that she was destined for great things.

Halili has her final litter with Ago before being snatched by a bird of prey when her pups were only eleven days old. Her eldest daughter Via later succeeded her as the new dominant female, though it would ultimately be little Maua who would lead the Udevu to prosperity.

Halili is based off of the KMP meerkat Holly, who was Flower's mother and the first dominant female of the Whiskers mob.
