So I've... never actually been to a pride parade before. As a result, I didn't quite feel right writing a story about a traditional pride parade, so instead I took a similar concept that I'm more familiar with - in this case The Night Parade of 100 Demons - and used it as a backdrop for a character piece about someone who meant to go to a bog standard event. It was a bit of a lucky break that I realized the two are actually kinda similar. But now that I think about it, the idea of a hyakki yagyo taking place in a western city has all sorts of crazy implications, and my use of the idea... feels like wasted potential now that I think about it. Oh well. Maybe I can rectify that in the future.
