I had this in my sketch folder and I loved the pose so decided to do something more with it. I was about to leave it grey because I feel like I'm mostly awful with color and idk why. I understand it a lot but everything I do just looks bad to me. This however, turned into a cool abstract thing. The cloudy stuff began to look like a red coat covering her back when I was coloring it. Perfect timing for something cool to happen because I was about to leave it grey.
Anyway, I hope someone enjoys this.

Sure it turned out enjoyable. You know, she could have been a "stripe-less" hyena with this mane, big ears and short muzzle. Also grey & red is one of my favorite color combinations.
I'm seeing progress in your works. Always nice with some cool abstract thing too, this is very hard to pull off in my technique.

She may as well be a stripeless hyena. I can see that too. I didn't really specify what kind of canine cause i wasn't quite sure. Mixture of wolf and dog it seems to me so Hyena works.
Thanks! I'm trying really hard to come up with a style I enjoy. I have such a wide range of quality in my art but my highest quality stuff involves a complex, time-consuming, and exhausting process that I don't enjoy, so I don't go that way anymore. Nice to hear from you!

The funny thing about hyenas is that they aren't even canines despite looking very much like them. I've even seen a zoo leaflet describing them as "a kind of wild dogs"! I have no idea how the supposed professionals could get so wrong.
I know what you mean. Quality costs time. That's also the reason why I'm pushing those HDRI-based images so much lately. They provide instant environment and light for me, it speeds the works on a picture so much that it almost feels like spamming.
Now, I do have more involved projects going in the background, but they are of the kind that takes weeks to months. I discovered that it helps me a lot to produce simpler things in the meantime, this "keeps the ball rolling" much better than focusing only on the big, long-term things. Maybe something for you to try?
