I am a remote volunteer for a FL-based dog-rescue called "The Dog Liberator". They specialize in herding breeds, mainly BC's and Aussies and only pull from high-kill shelters.
This is one of their dogs they have available. Her name is Asia, and she is a double-merle Australian Shepherd who was actually picked up by TDL off craigslist, with her sister Sparrow. Asia is deaf and partially blind, and her sister Sparrow was badly wounded when TDL took them both in.
The star above her eye is no "artistic license", either. That is a real, 100% true marking on her face. :)
They're a FANTASTIC organization--over 3oo dogs adopted in 18months of existence. I encourage everyone to check them out, and to please consider adopting!

For real. I think there needs to be much stricter legislation regarding breeding. In Ga, all you have to have is a license to breed. No proof of lineage, intent, or maintenance of a facility. It's literally as easy as standing in line for a piece of paper.
Better than here. You don't need anything to breed where I live, nor do shelters have to require spay/neuter upon adoption. The only time you'd need any proof of lineage, intent, or decent facilities is if you're registering with a purebred litter with the akc or other legit organization.
But I love aussies, and I'd totally rescue if I had my own place. <3
