There's a tradition in Italian-American culture called The Feast of Seven Fishes.
It takes place every year on Christmas Eve and is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. A bunch of family get together, cook a variety of fish dishes, and celebrate the night before the day.

I'm not Italian, nor am I particularly observant of any religion, but I do like food and food culture. This was my Christmas Eve interpretation of The Feast of Seven Fishes. A really, really overstuffed seafood paella.

There are mussels, clams, prawns, oysters, and cod in there. It's not seven fish I know, but it was still good. And I promise there was in fact rice underneath it all ;)
