Enboldened by the referee letting their previous outburst slide, the badgers decide to push their luck and keep badgering the rabbit
Somehow this lack of tactic pays off; a solid kick sends ball AND bunny flying straight into the goals. What's more, they realize that on top of knocking their opponent over, the commotion has left him half naked. How...? they aren't about to let questions get in the way of enjoying the moment. They laugh so hard, echoed by their entire team (and even some from the rabbit team), they almost don't hear the whistle blow at all.
“Yellow card!”
“What rule did I break Mr referee?”
“No stripping your opponent down to his skivvies.”
“But the goal's still valid, right?”
“Huh, is that a real rule that exists??”
The badgers shrug, unsure whether to question it, or play it safe and embrace a potentially useful precedent for themselves NOT ending up stripped down to their skivvies.
“It's not... there's something suspect about that referee, I'll tell you that much...”
The rabbit stumbles back on his feet, and realizes to his dismay why everyone's laughing; he panics, randomly grabs his shirt and one shoe and bolts away to the locker rooms. Was he taking one for the team earlier in prevision of a trap they were planning? maybe so... but this was just not what they had agreed on. That just wasn't supposed to happen. They would have to have a little talk with the referee after the match...
Speaking of the fox, he had been repressing a snicker; seeing the rabbit run off, he engages jogging on to his pursuit.
“You guys behave for a minute,” he shouts, “the poor buck will need me to unlock the door to the lockers!”
The rest of the rabbit gang instantly notice the referee's drastic and worrisome change in tone; they move to follow him, but their rivals cut them off.
“Din't you hear the referee buckos? We be nice and behaved now... the match is not over.”
“But between you and us, this goal definitely counts!”
“Now back on the field so we can play!”
