Geeze! The perspective is spot on, the weapon is detailed, "Just enough," and I like the look of absolute concentration on the 'morph Cervine's face. You got me to wondering if morphic deer would prefer to use just their eyeballs and the rifle's sights, "Just to be fair," or would they prefer high powered hunting 'scopes? There's a story 'percolatin' in there.
You reminded me of an OLD anthro picture simply titled Bambo. Imagine Bambi as Rambo, with Thumper carryin' A M-79 grenade launcher, with a bandoleer of hand grenades and Flower the Skunk carryin' a flamethrower. I believe the tag at the bottom was "BAMBO: He's back for his mother's killer, and he's PISSED!"
I've seen this idea and concept before.
However, your piece has some things the others don't. You have that uncanny ability to color the emotion and the feel by using the background. It has this ominous
Plus, your transition from Canine/Feline to Cervidae is quite a shocker.
I really love those grey eyes, they seem cool and collected, and ready to snipe any unlucky bastard with an orange beanie on their head.

One thing I never understood about hunters was the whole "ohhh wow it's so beautiful...so majestic...hang on a second...*BOOM*"
It's like "dude. If you're going to go hunting...DON'T play the whole 'I'm at one with nature' bullshit. If you're going out to hunt your own food, hunt your own food and quit pretending like you're a friggin' guru of nature admiring the view." It's the hypocrisy of it that I hate.
Now, admittedly, I've gone hunting twice. Bagged a deer my second time. Didn't mount its head as a trophy, it wasn't a kill for sport, it was literally going out to try to get food. It was delicious, yes, but I didn't sit there and pretend like I was being a naturalist. Truth be told I looked at the whole thing like fishing; food that I catch. It wasn't about survival, and I admitted freely, I just wanted to see what deer tasted like. Protip; unbelievably good.
Personally, I don't get the whole hatred towards people who go hunting for food. Hunting for sport, yeah, I can understand it. Hunting animals for the sake of killing them and not eating them, or going on about how much of a "naturalist" you are is stupid, as is hunting endangered animals, but hunting an animal to eat doesn't really deserve much hatred unless you're a militant vegan, in which case...well, that's your business, I suppose. People often say "THERE'S MEAT AT THE GROCERY STORE!" Not deer meat. :D It's kind of like fishing, too, lots of people eat their catch, yet they don't often have people screaming at them saying "THERE'S A SEAFOOD SECTION AT THE GROCERY STORE!" Again my counter would be "there sure isn't often brook trout! Or walleye!" Mmm...walleye...but I digress. The meat section is great but eating it from the store isn't absolving me of any complicity in the animal's death, I might as well have killed it myself either way.
Say, for example, those dickcheeses in Alaska who FLY AROUND IN CHOPPERS shooting wolves, claiming they're taking care of a problem. WHAT FUCKING PURPOSE DOES THAT SERVE. Personally if I saw them I'd shoot an M-2 Carl Gustav right into the cockpit; how's THAT for taking care of a problem; reduce the number of dickcheeses amongst the population, good fucking riddance to 'em, too.
I dunno. You gotta have everything in balance. You can't really consider nature pure and innocent in general because given half a chance nature would obliterate us all. It tried, in fact, for hundreds of thousands of years, and hell, nature's cruelty is considered to be the primary reason for a lot of the more violent human tendencies, rooted in kill-or-be-killed primal instincts that time has not yet managed to completely erase yet. But nor can you say that all humans take responsibility for their actions, either. Hunting isn't implicitly bad; it's the reasons that determine whether or not it is, much like many actions in this world that we all make.
...I think I've totally over-analyzed this picture. XD

I hunt, for food, what i shoot i eat. Not for survival but because real wild turkey tastes alot better than a walmart bird IMHO and deer tacos are downright tasty. (and is a useful skill in an actual survival situation, such as the collapse of all civilization) That said. There are some species that need to be thinned out a little, such as coyotes (around here, many are rabid and a non native species. they have also tried to take small kids) and feral hogs (they cause millions in damage to crops and have killed a few people.) But, there are some hunters "cough"unethical"cough" that just make me faceplam.
