As many lizards, Curt develops seasonal colors when it is mating season. He doesn't like it. Curt had never liked being the center of attention, but it isn't easy to ignore a nearly nine feet tall lizard. The coloring only gets even more attention, so he tries his best to hide his colors.
Another thing that happens and Curt tries to control as best as possible is how his instincts make him grow more possessive and protective during this time, especially of his "mate". The problem is: he doesn't have a mate. At least not yet. But because he spends most of his time with Peter and because the doctor has many feelings about the young man that he doesn't want to deal with, his body and mind decided that Peter is his mate.
