Before the main events with the main antagonist, Kai lived in his native steampunk dimension of Perimoor and he had a best friend, Roberick the cat, aka Mr. Roberick Clevery. They studied together at the University of airship engineering, and then worked together in their specialty.
And they had the very first order for an airship... very strange, most likely of a military nature... It seemed, why would newcomers receive such an order? This alerted them...
