An ex-slave/thief on the run from a power hungry royal family who seek to kill him and reclaim the powerful sword that he stole from them.

Born the 12th child to a large family of pheasants who toiled and worked everyday for their kingdom, Stryde was mostly left to fend for himself. Born a runt compared to the rest of his siblings, Stryde learned early on how to be quiet and sneaky in order to swipe whatever scraps of food and items he could. Growing up, his parents barely paid attention to him, fully expecting him to up and die like so many other weak children like him. But over time, Stryde would survive and grow strong, his skills in thievery helping him to survive, eventually leading him to becoming a full time thief to help his continually struggling family. Bringing in coin and precious metals from various households and people was the only time his parents would praise him. For the first time in his life, Stryde felt loved. Sadly, his greedy folks took advantage of his desire to make them proud, sending him out to find more and more expensive and precious items. Eventually his family was able to live comfortably, but there was one last 'mission' his folks gave to the maned wolf, to steal straight from the vaults of the kings castle itself! Whatever Stryde found there would be enough to let his family finally move to brighter pastures and start a new life away from poverty and squalor. However, what Stryde would find in the depths of the kings vault would change his life forever.
