Though this has a sketch in paper, this was the first work done on Krita.
Octoposaur (Okutopozauru) was the 8th Kaiju of the Dark Horror Army Roster who appears as the Filler Monster at the tail end in the 8th Episode of Dino Mech Gaiking, "The Daiku Maryu gone Mad".
_Appearance and Abilities_
Octoposaur was among the biggest Dark Horror Kaiju faced by Team Daiku Maryu, it was essentially one single serpentine tentacle like beast that arched in a "W" like shape, giving the impression of having legs and arms, with sharp claws for feet and ending with two digit tendrils at the end of its tail/limbs; in the center it possess a lizard like head with light green eyes and a mouth full of sharp fangs; across the surface side of the body it had suckers, which served no purpose.Beside its massive size, it's combat abilities were limited to grasping firm of its targets, the usual fire breath (capable to melt the steel alloy of the Daiku Maryu) seeing with most Dark Horror Kaiju, as well spew a cloud of smoke from the mouth.
Octoposaur was perhaps one of the weakest monsters thus far, been disposed quickly when Gaiking enters into combat; more over, the episode served mostly filler for the latest Zelan Agent, Liza (aka Spy No.1) who was sent to board the Daiku Maryu to sabotage it.
_History_
When the luxury liner Queen Elizabeth VIII disappears off the Omaezaki Lighthouse (Team Daiku Mayru's base) and later found wrecked in the middle of the Gobi Desert, the heroes suspect the Zelans, though other world expert have their doubts – Really guys this is like their thing; freak tornadoes and off you go!.
Sakon finds Sanshiro fishing in the shore and the two enter into an argument when they are distracted by a young woman been pursued by a group of Dark Avian Corp soldiers; as she slips down the cliff, Sanshiro and Sakon jump in to save and fight off the villains – Sakon protecting here from shots; the other pilots coming in and helping out, getting rid of the remainder attackers. The girl is taken to the hospital on the Daiku Maryu as the vessel depart for the Gobi desert to investigate the Queen Elizabeth VIII's mystery – Pete noticing Sakon acting hesitant.
At the hospital, Sakon and Sanshiro questioned why she was been hunted by the Zelans, which she has no knowledge of, with Midori suspecting she is Psychic, something Sanshiro can relate; Liza then sees Midori leaving a flowered plant, to her delight. Pete enters and is shocked by the presence of Liza, learning just now of what had transpired and reprimanding Sakon and Sanshiro for bringing an unauthorized individual on board though the two pilots defend here (specially Sakon), however, the group leaves Liza for their posts as they are about to reach the Gobi.
Suddenly, the Daiku Maryu begins to shake and flies out of control, its Astral Stabilizer having stop functioning, with an unusual contraption in the Guide Pipeline for the pilots. At the hospital, Liza shows her true colors – Spy No.1 of the Dark Knights – and contacts the Generals of the situation, been the cause of the situation, thanks to her destabilizing waves. After channeling the computers to regain stability, Sakon is left wondering the cause, as the check ups from before were up to date, knowing the cause be from the inside – which he realized the only difference from before was Liza coming on board. As he proceeds to investigate her name in the Psychic Files (why doesn't go and ask her instead?) Liza is caught in her true form by Midori and holds her hostage at gun point in front of the others, demanding the way to the Central Control Room.
A shocked Sakon is in disbelief, forcing the Spy to explain her motives for her actions; revenge for her brother, Spy No.1, in previous battle, as well the plight of her home world closing in onto the Black Hole, envy of Humanity as they live on still vibrant world; with her guard down, Fan Li disarms her, but Sakon stops him before the finishing blow as they could reach understanding with her; at that moment of the Generals orders her to complete her mission less he activates the bomb implanted in her. In a U-turn of conscious, Liza reveals the others about the bomb; wanting to save her, Sakon tries to take her to the Activator, trying to disarm it along the way, but Liza bails on him – she opens an escape hatch and bid farewell to Sakon before jumping, dying as the bomb goes off at a safe distance from the ship, but still the shock wave impact causes it to crash in the Gobi Desert. Sakon informs Sanshiro of what had happened, the MC desiring nothing but to payback at the villains to avenge Liza.
The Grotestars appear and summon the gigantic Dark Horror Kaiju Octoposaur and attacks the ship, trying to crush it in its grasp, as well using its fire breath, melting parts of the hull; the Heroes try to escape on full power to avail; with no other choice, the Gaiking parts are launched and the robot assembles to battles the Monster, using Counter Punch and Desper Sight, though these are blocked by a tentacle whip and Smoke Breath respectively; Gaiking then uses Counter Cross, stabbing it onto the Monster's right eye, then shocks it with Paralyzer, releasing the Daiku Maryu; After using uses the Saur Geizer, Sanshiro then uses Hydro Blazer, the monster's face melts and Explodes.
As they return home from the battle, Sakon is left thinking Liza's reason to die was to do so around flowers and blue sky and throws a Flower in tribute.
