Im getting incredibly close to finishing up my character sheets for all my OCs, then ill move onto more character focused content. This is Roxanne, or Roxy... or Rox, i use a variety depending on who's speaking with her. Roxanne is my mom friend character, she's always calling people dear, honey, sweetie or other similar terms, she's always the girl to give everyone else advice or to wrangle in my more rambunctious characters, and she's always concerned about everyone's well being. Sure, sometimes she can be sort of a stick in the mud, and sure, sometimes she can be a bit stern, but more often than not i feel like she's the girl that everyone looks up to because of her intelligence or respects because of how caring and wise she actually is. Dixe, for example, isn NOT a smart girl, she struggles with difficult subjects like most forms of math, basic reading, writing, etc. But Roxy has always been the one she turned to when she needed help (pretty much she does ALL the work) or advice when she was unsure about things going on in her life. She's the girl who makes sure everybody is safe and maintains order when things get out of hand. I like to think that like Laura, Roxy also wants to care for those around her, she is a smart woman who wants to do better in life to provide a better life for her friends, like Dixie, who never really had much growing up and doesn't exactly have a lot now either.
Sure, maybe Roxy isn't my most exciting character, maybe she's not always trying to be interesting, but i feel like her ability to sort of ground everybody and keep them in line is incredibly valuable. Obviously im not going into details about backstories and such, but a few of my characters aren't having the best of times right now and i can't think of a character who's provided better support for them than Roxy, she's somebody who acts like such a parental figure at times that it makes it much easier for folk like Dixie or Laura (who aren't exactly the most open women) to get problems off their chest simply because she's both a friend and a caretaker when she needs to be. I like Roxy simply because she's sort of the adult that her friends need in their lives when more than likely they would've spun off the rails without somebody as strong and mature as Roxanne to help them along the way.
