I -was- wearing jeans. The problem is, when you're reaching for something up high, sometimes the little bits of diaper that come peeking out get uncovered! I wore longer t-shirts after that…
This was before the "cloth like" outer coverings were much in evidence, either… Those are EASY to make quiet.

This is pretty neat ^_^ if you're under 30 you can hear this noise. If your are above 30 you can't. It proves that children have better hearing than adults. THe younger you are , the more you can hear :P It's why I always have to repeat stuff I say to parents. x3

There are some 80 year old African tribesman who have been shown to be able to hear those types of auditory tests quite well. They are never exposed to the kind of constant din that we are in our industrialized society. Its more the exposure to noise that damages our hearing, not necessarily the effects of age.
Guarantee noise plays a big role… I've lost most of mine to machine tools. I still have sensitive ears, just nowhere near as sensitive as they COULD have been if I had taken the proper precautions. Every little bit counts. All those times I didn't feel like looking for the muffs- this piece just needs a little whack to straighten it… Ten whacks later, and my ears are ringing- there goes a few more tenths percent of my hearing. Stuff like that really takes a toll.
I work occasionally in the forge, and welding. That shit makes some NOISE! Especially the blade grinders. Its gotten to the point I wont even pick one up if I don't have my ears. Even then, they're awful loud… A #3 driving hammer miss to the anvil horn is pretty bad, too…
Some people don't go to concerts, listen to headphones, or bash metal for a living. THOSE are the people who will be able to hear when they are 50. Not the sculptors!

You make valid points of course ^^ but my dad and I work in the coalmines, he has ben doing it for around 30 years. We also do a lot of welding and were surrounded by that heavy machinery all day. He is manager of maintenance so he always gotta fix it all; and his hearing seems better than mine! so i dunno its like a phenomenon
I'm 28 and I can still hear all but the highest-pitched of the "mosquito" tones. I tend to shy away from areas with constant loud noise; the ONE time I attended a live, loudness-based concert in adulthood, I stayed well away from the stage and still felt sick to my stomach from the way the bass ripped through me. Which is why I stick to unamplified orchestra and the like these days (and haven't gone to such a concert in a long while, unfortunately). Headphones though, I listen to those--and it doesn't SEEM loud to me, I just turn it up loud enough to hear everything I want to hear, and turn it down when it gets louder than I'm comfortable with--but regardless of the type of headphones I get, people say "Oh, it must be too loud, I can hear it from over here!" Whereas when I set the headphones down and walk over to where they were, I can barely hear it--if they had had anything else they were listening to, they wouldn't be able to hear my music over it. Based on the fact that my hearing doesn't seem to be impaired enough to make THAT much of a difference, I'm forced to conclude that people simply don't realize that sound travels through headphones and my head, and that just because you can hear it from outside the headphones does not mean it's turned up too loud: headphones are not hearing aids, they're not meant to be sound-tight!
Bluh. Rant time over now. :P

A 14.8kHz tone is nothing. I've picked out monitors with a 20kHz refresh from across a noisy room. I routinely test off the chart (in a good way) at my audiologist. He suggested if I wanted to find out the real limits of my hearing, that I consult with the local university hospital, as his machine only went to 16kHz, and theirs went much higher.
Oh, I'll be 34 in a few months, and have Menieres and hyperacusis (means I have very sensitive ears). Ask the teens I work with how often I bust them because of their "No old people can hear this ring tone!" junk. I can usually hear it better than they can.
As for the crinkle, it can be hard to pick out in crowded places, but I've had plenty of kids, and a few parents, give me "The Look" over the years.

I wouldn't trust youtube or basic audiology labs either because unless you have a very expensive (aka 4 digit sound system) and a very LARGE video most mp3 or even AAC compression wont capture anything above 19.5 where most audio compression knocks out... (The specs of my Soundcard only go 19.5 I believe, though its 10 years old now)
FLAC or other lossless may have the ability to capture it but chances are you wont have the speakers to play it - even then youd need heavy amplification and run the risk of heavy damage...
AS for the crinkle... Unless it was uuber obvious only those sensitive enough to know what the noise is wold identify it, otherwise there would be no reason...
Its more about buldge and plastic trim popping out of less than desireable places and buldge

This storyline is on "pause" while the current storyline is being completed. These last few drawings were kind of an add on- they originally stopped at the "drawing" page, which is like #34 or so… At this point, though, its relatively complete. I have another IRL storyline ready to go in a little while.
