A Special Valentine...Mine

Sometimes it seems you know a thing,
By learning, experience, or as one does,
And then you see it change in meaning,
And suddenly it's more than it once was.
From what it was to what it is,
It grows and evolves somehow.
And no matter what the consequences,
You know there's no going back now.
You go all in on what you love,
No matter what fate has in store.
You take that leap, hoping it's enough,
To make you both happier than before.
It's exciting and it's terrifying,
Not knowing what to expect,
More than just you may be crying,
Or you both may have the greatest thing yet.
So I'll start it here as I reach for you,
Pull you close on Valentine's,
And give you a meaningful, special kiss, too,
Because I am yours, and you are mine.
At least that's how it was back then,
How sad it is that these things changed,
I was blinded by love again,
How could I let someone in who is so deranged?
I trusted you, against all the signs,
You convinced me it was all in my head,
I foolishly thought you were mine,
While you kept another close to your bed.
Alas not even your manipulation,
Was something kept for me alone.
Instead, your deceit and fabrications,
Had, like you, multiple homes.
You sewed them into more than just my heart,
With lies to both of us in turn,
Pitting us against each other almost from the start,
Did you think your house of cards wouldn't burn?
You're crying now and acting the victim alone,
And you say you're sorry for the pain you wrought,
Too late, for you've destroyed us both,
A massacre of hearts is all you brought.
