Excellent, memorable design! Avian furry characters can have just about most difficult anatomy of all the other subtypes, so much credit is due to you tackling this challenge, even though you'd had experience drawing and designing birdly characters before.
The little animalistic falcon perching on that pointy rock is wonderful, too.

With enough time and patience, I'd draw better feathers. But, my goal is to work faster so I've a ways to go before I can get detail down quickly. And, yes, the little falcon was based off a reference of a real Kestrel falcon which I then used as the reference for the rest. Glad you liked the design. Do you have any refs for your character?
Thank you for sharing the specifics of your creative development!
There is something to be said for optimizing your style for efficiency and quick sketching.
Properly rendering plumage is next to neurosurgery and rocket science in terms of the manifold complexity of that discipline, so some simplification is only to be expected. Still looks great!
You can watch the indie animated show, "No Evil" by Betsy Lee on YouTube for an example of a different, stork-like body plan for an avian character that has proper wings where they should be -- not as alternative to your character, of course, but just as reference point.
No fresh references for my characters, I'm afraid. I'm happily retired from artistic interactions until further notice, but I do leave comments and watch other artists do their thing, and I think up stories, but keep it private.
