This is the last of the commissions I took at MFF 2010. Holy cow, this drawing took sooooo long. And my scanner murdered it. Cold-blooded murder, right here everybody. That sky, it was blue done in coloured pencils. The grass? All of it was green, and smooth looking. Scanners + any form of pencil = DESPAIR.
I will miss the original to this picture more than any picture I've done. It was gorgeous, and this upload doesn't do it justice. This picture is one of those pieces that feels like a benchmark of my progress as an artist. A picture that hits the peak of your ability, and you know you can do it again if you've done it once, but it will be no easy task, yet.
This piece taught me a lot of things while I was making it, and I really feel like I improved through it. I also finally feel like I have the nerve to charge just a little more for my art, if it's going to start looking like this. This drawing was about 10"x14", and took at least 8 hours from start to finish, not to mention all the ink it used.
