Gila isn't as strong and confident a female as our lamented green friend. That leaves the party biased strongly male, even if on paper, it's 50/50. Hiker isn't much of a female, mentally.
Females are a source of permanence in a party, where males drive action, generally. Hiker's brains are scrambled, and Gila is too new to be an emotional ground for the party. So, they feel adrift, at least to me so far. I miss Ralan, she really ought to get Oli's memory Idol from Respite from The Long Hike 33 back to Oli, or sent someone to deliver it to Oli once she made it back that far.
