...Or also known simply as "Shattered Sun", man it has been literally forever since I've drawn a full "Soft Bellied Crab", and right now? This is probably a lot of information that's thrown at you all at once. As they are one of my favorite creatures to write about, but rarely seldom do I post anything about them. Eventually I'm going to start a "species of skin to scales" post that detail a lot of the monsters, aliens and fauna. The "Soft Bellied Crab" is one of the massive monsters that are native to Planet Materia. The name coming from Captain PiK and Hunter both arguing if they should classify these creatures as "Crabs" or "Lobsters" since they're very aquatic. However, in these alien creatures' tongue their species are known as, "Cra!quel!lamure" (the ! marks are various clicking sounds in-between.), but their scientific name that's most commonly used is "Testaforeas" (Shell Carrier), so in other words... The monster's name is an absolute mess because no one in the main cast can truly decide what they should be called.
Shattered Sun is a wandering sword master who comes from a long line of history of Cra!quel!lamure who partook in, "the leviathan wars" as she's a descendant of royalty but has no kingdom to call her own. After the death of her father to the god of the sea she was banished to the land with the rest of her species as the ocean belonged to the mermaids. Thanks to the language barrier of the "surface-folk", she was seen as nothing but a wild animal and without a weapon. She would eventually fashion a large blade out of a tree that she would channel her magic through. She would be a loner until meeting up with the main cast, but actively refused to join until she met with the mute god personally and challenging him to a duel. Thomza despite his god-like status would somehow miraculously lose to Shattered Sun as it was a fighting style he never saw before and could not actively work around it. With her victory she would join the cast by force, and thanks to how her culture works, she believes she is the new queen of the colony. Tia finds her amusing enough so she allows Shattered Sun to be the Queen she always wanted. As now Shattered Sun is not only in an arranged marriage with Thomza through her alien and cultural rites, but also has her own group of "Dragon-Killers" and her own Kobold command unit. However, she knows absolutely nothing of warfare as Tia basically tugs the strings behind the scenes. Shattered Sun has a massive ego, as Tia gradually likes to step out of her "Royal Highness'" way just to watch her fumble around and fall.
Shattered Sun is known to be stopped by small 2 ft fences and can be usually seen sitting upon her throne of pillows somewhere in the grand cathedral of the pillars. She believes she is a fair ruler even if the Scalebolds hardly pay her any attention. Despite all of this Thomza does enjoy her company since she is the only other swordmaster who had actually bested him in combat in a very long time. So, there is a lot of mutual respect as she is also able to spin great tales about her ancestors and those who came before her. That she is the 64th member of her line and that most of her fighting style can be traced back to a kingdom that is now lost.
...And that's basically it, I hope you all enjoyed that little description of her and her importance to the story. As I continue to pump out these illustrations, I want to tell you there will be entire short stories based around it to be published. It's just I've been sitting on these ideas for literal years and have so much stuff that's "Private" that I really should just talk about my ideas instead of letting them rot away. I have an entire original universe I want to explore, and I do thank you all for being with me for it. Thank you all for reading, you are all truly wonderful and the support you show is always more than appreciated.
Fun Fact: Their names are "Soft Bellied Crabs" as it's a name that kind of just... Stuck with me as a kid when drawing them. They're one of the oldest "original species" i've created outside of Tulivores and their design still hasn't changed all that much
Fun Fact 2: Soft Bellied Crabs name themselves after titles or things that seemingly have meaning to them. It is also not uncommon for the name of one of these species to change down the line as they grow older.

I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system. There are also many satirical tones as well...
