Gwen Velak: Your Friendly City Witch (Anthro Design)
Hey All! Gosh am I so so excited to be sharing this with you all! So, recap: as several of you that follow me may have seen, I have managed to grab several commissions with my Fox Witch Gwen here in the past that was supposed to show off more of her Anthro form, as those of you that read her background know that is the form she uses. However, it felt a bit awkward many times when asking for said commissions as I never had a proper reference to give outside of the fantastic feral reference that
Griseo made for me over a year ago. As such, I was sort of limited in terms of what type of coms I could get, especially for Gwen partaking in any of her more witchy shenanigans. So for a long while I was looking to see who to commission for getting her a proper Anthro reference, but I kept pushing it further and further back as I was both nervous on who to pick to make it and focused on to many other things that kept me busy. Then, my good buddy
King_Wiggler recommended I give an artist named Sushiroll a look as she's done a ton of reference work for him in the past and they've all turned out fantastically for them! So, finally, less then three weeks ago I reached out when they were taking a big commission batch to see if they would be up for it, and I'm happy to say that Sushi was an absolute BLAST to work with! She was really on top of her game in terms of feedback, not to mention the incredible work she did taking my scribbles for Gwen's outfit and turning it into something that looks absolutely stellar ! This is all without mentioning just how much of an awesome job she did on Gwen's design as well, especially her fur design which she said was a ton of fun to adapt from Griseo's original. I can't thank her enough for all the amazing work she put into making this for me; Gwen came out looking gorgeous in every way and I couldn't recommend Sushi enough for my own part. Please go check her out and give her a look next time she opens commissions! https://www.5ushiroll.com/
CW: Now, there hasn't been any real change in Gwen's backstory so for those familiar this would be a repost (with maybe some slight tweaks in wording and such). For those of you not familiar with my gallery a lot of my content focuses around vore and so does a small piece of her backstory. If you wish to avoid this little bit then feel free to skip the last paragraph, as it doesn't hold much relevance outside that context. With that out of the way though, onto introductions!
Background
Gwen Velak is a long time resident to the Big City and one with a growing reputation. Standing at about 6'2" and maintaining every inch of that glamorous fur, Gwen holds a striking image that many can't help but marvel on upon first meeting her, even if she does not arrive in her usual form as she's found great fun in surprising others by her sudden appearance in her feral visage. You see our dear Gwen here is a witch, one who has become proficient in the arts of sorcery for both her income and her pure love of the craft! When she was a young teen she was searching for books in her local library when she stumbled upon an old leather tome, its cover having long faded yet still bearing intrigue to the curious mind. After flipping through its contents though she found it to be full of crafts and recipes, but not for the cooking variety. It was an arcane crafts book, one that instructed on the creation of potions, runes, spell circles and more. Needless to say Gwen was hooked from that point forward, immediately purchasing the old tome along with plenty more and spending much of her free time delving into every inch of their contents. Thankfully being home schooled meant having a great deal of free time on your hands (as long as you were diligent in your studies), and in all aspects Gwen was a quick learner, becoming able to brew her own potions within three months and casting levitation spells after a year.
Of course it wasn't all just spells and studies for Gwen growing up, as being home schooled her parents still wanted to be sure their daughter was getting to meet new friends and explore the world. To do this, they signed her up for all sorts of activities in her youth, from Archery to hiking to theater. It was this last one where Gwen and Layla would eventually meet and the two became instant besties, growing a mutual love for performance art and all the silliness that came with it. This practice of hobby hopping has actually stayed with Gwen to adulthood, with Layla often tagging along; the two switching from pottery, photography (how Layla got into the modeling scene), and even fire dancing, with one of their beach side performances being so astonishing that it brought T'moria out onto shore to meet them (and the two becoming mainstays of his own fire dancing shows).
As for her shop, The Witches Brew, Gwen has arisen from humble beginnings to become one of the best know mages in town, being able to provide guidance for all her clients needs be they love potions, fortune telling, and even restorations (someone has to repair grandma's vase). Of course Gwen still held a flare for the dramatic with all of this, a carry over from her theater days, with The Witches Brew working as both her stage and her workshop. The esthetics of the place would speak clearly to this, with old world trinkets mixed in with volumes upon volumes of books and scattered paper; Gwen herself will gleefully dawn a witches hat and dazzling cloths to complete the imagine, graciously greeting her guest within her place of wonder. Not long after taking their seats will these guest be treated to a marvelous show, with spectral lights that just seem to float and sparkle within the room as Gwen dances, chants, or simple holds her patrons hand. Of course Gwen gets a great deal of fun out of all this and she's always glad to see the same with her clients. There are times though where a bit of trickery can be involved, like patrons being baffled by the answers she gives in their fortune telling, or maybe feeling tricked when their potion does not quite work as "intended." That is until they've realized they've stumbling upon the answers they wished for all this time; Gwen may have a small mischievous side in her, but she has never failed to aid her clients, a fact she is proud of to this day.
Of course, payment is often necessary for these services and Gwen is more then accommodating when it comes to collection. Some may simply be asked to give a lock of their fur for the cauldron, or to share a long forgotten tale that would make the hardened weep. One of her favorite request, however, is for her client(s) to become her meal(s) that night, a request that most will happily accept (after all, magic can be an expensive art form)! While most in Gwen's world would expect to be awake in their beds by the morning sunrise though, Gwen's meals tend to stick around a bit longer then that. Those floating lights are hard to control while casting spells you see, so why not have some aid in the form of spiritual lighting! See, also adorning the shop that Gwen calls home are numerous large crystals which are able to store the souls of those she's eaten. This process isn't permanent by any means, and most will return to their bodies after a week or so, but the time spent as part of Gwen's shop can be a relaxing reprieve; with her guest having their choice of any book they wish, and being able to converse with others without the stress of the outside world to worry them. And of course, when Gwen's next clients have come to seek her guidance, why not join in on the fun as well, to be a part of that same dazzling display that entranced them only moments before?
