A long time ago, when I was first working on Maple, I had the story that she was developed by Team Flare. While her mission would be similar, at one point in time, she would be triggered and sent to deploy the Ultimate Weapon, so that instead of Lysandre being placed at fault, it would only be a robot.

It didn't really work out.
