This big truck is often parked near my house.
One day I was walking past it when the light and the angle reminded me of the movie "Duel" in which a big truck terrorizes a man in a red Plymouth Valiant.
I've been a bit leery of walking in front of this truck ever since...

The same people who bought big Fleetwoods and Continentals when I was a kid are the same folks who buy big, fancy, fully-loaded trucks now.
I see a well-dressed person climb down from a fancy monster truck without a spot of dirt on them or the truck, and I think:
"The biggest cargo that truck's ever gonna carry is a five-pound wheel of artisan cheese..."

"Duel" was a great film. It was made for TV and I recall seeing it on broadcast television when it premiered. Nobody knew Stephen Spielberg at the time. Dennis Weaver (of McCloud fame) starred in the principal role. He squeezed every drop out of that role. I was stoked to find it on home video.
Movie Nerd Trivia: The sound that the truck makes as it plummets down the cliff was repurposed by Speilberg as the dying sound of the shark in "Jaws".

Spielberg got off to an auspicious beginning with this movie; it's a great study in dramatic tension.
I agree that Dennis Weaver played the part beautifully. His performance is understated and intense in equal measure.
Now that's a neat bit of trivia; I've seen both movies many times, and I never noticed that. I love learning things like this.
