"32 panels of solar to weld, 32 panels of solar. Weld one up and float on down, 31 panels of solar to weld... ah Clang, this is taking much too long. Why did the fix 'it ship have to conk out?"
A idea born from my re-addiciton to Space Engineers, growing more and more by the day.
Space Engineers belong to Keen Software House, the floating orca of the panels is mine.

Ayy, thank ya! It reminded me of those old NASA hard suit concepts when I tried it on in game and I had to go with it! Plus Sharkmouth helmet was just too cool.
And what can I say? When the jetpack does all the work in space, pretty much everything sticks and stays on ya!

That is why I move production to the orbit base (where there is no g force). Transfering things is costly in hydrogen, so my small transporter ship always have the O2/H2 Generator, and at least 1 of 3 or 4 medium containers is full of Ice.
Hydrogen tanks (the small ones) are around the ship (usually use 10 of them, 8 for normal use, 2 with stockpile on - as the reserve - mainly for landing)
So first thing I do is to find asteroid. Park there, and then look for ores, but firstly ice (for refuel). Use GPS points a lot.
It will take some flights in the suit.
You can lower the fuel consuption by turning off dampeners (Z) during transfer to orbit. I usually burn again when velocity goes lower than 75-70. At high g, it means burns are more frequent, but then less frequent. This procedure consumes up to 70% of fuel (be aware that reserve is also counted here, thrusters will stop operating, when it is not unlocked - stockpile off). At zero g turning off dampeners is best for long distances, and you can use ion thrusters (but you need platinum to make these).
