[MB Result] Make Me Feel | Sweet Stinging Shark
Owned by:
Thunalio The video feed opens on a softly smiling, lavender-toned shark woman. She gives a cheery little wave and flashes her fangs in friendly greeting, clearly quite comfortable in her cozy bedroom-slash-studio.
“Hey Friends and Folks. Hope everyone is having a gentle-and-affirming day! I saw a comment thread on my blog recently, where a few of you started to talk about what creates your internal anxieties. I noticed a lot of you mentioning getting stuck inside ‘internal loops’ or replays of… really upsetting or embarrassing memories. Not always things we would consider traditionally traumatic, but… things that still feed out Anxiety Monsters, regardless.”
The svelte shark takes a placid pause, allowing the silence space to breathe. Other blog posts of hers have spoken about the importance of becoming comfortable with silence. Her tropical-water eyes dim in contemplation as she internally places her words, and absently reaches for something outside the camera’s scope. Her thoughtful fidgeting produces a leathally adorable pink teddy bear of her own design and creation, which she puppets to wave at the screen and tip its head back and forth in fiend curiosity.
“So I wanted to do a quick video to encourage people to get talking– because one of the best ways to fight our Anxieties is to deconstruct them. What do I mean? It’s like this. If I keep replaying this one frightening or upsetting memory, the first thing I’m gunna do is find a safe space to talk about it. Obviously my watchers are very kind and enlightened, so I’m going to share one of my embarrassing, anxiety-feeding memories with you all. I also encourage everyone who feels safe to share their own thoughts and experiences in the comments or in response videos, because what that’s going to do is reduce the fuel your anxiety gets from feeding on these uncomfortable thoughts or memories. If you talk about it, and people are generally accepting and supportive and the world does not in fact end then… sometimes, if we’re lucky, it’s not so scary anymore.”
She seemed at ease with that part of her preformative, informative conversation. Here her vanir cracks across her graceful composure and her muzzle wrinkles while she sticks out the tip of her tongue in a show of awkward, uncomfortable disgust. For a few seconds she smothers her face in the belly of her fluffy pink plushie and releases a long huffing breath.
“And now the part where I actually have to talk about it… Ew. Okay, here we go. When I was a child I had a lot of difficulty making and keeping friends. Social interactions were just… really difficult for me to understand. And at the time, folks weren't very educated about uncommon mutations in traditionally predatory species. So, basically… my stingers scared the other kids, and it was usually enough to make me an outsider. I remember being fine with it most of the time… but, do you all remember those clapping games we would play as kids? Rockin’ Robin? Miss Mary Mac? Say Say My Playmate? I always found those games so difficult to learn, but I wanted to play them so badly…”
“So I… made up an imaginary sister, in the mirror. And I would ‘play’ those games with my reflection. Very, very slowly I might add. When I’m anxious, my brain likes to attach to this memory and kind of… vibe off it telling me how stupid and pathetic I was. Like, why couldn’t I just be normal? But you know what? I don’t think you wonderful watchers are going to say those things to me. I hope you folks can help me affirm to myself that there is nothing wrong with being the weird little kid I was.”
“Okay… phew! That was… not easy, now I think it’s Tea Reward time. Thanks so much for watching Everyone! I’ll be in touch after Tea Time!”
