It varies from piece to piece! I generally use at least a couple of layers.... like for this one, I believe I painted the BG on one, and the subject on another.... and the floaty orbs were on their own layer. I did play around with color adjustments a tad and added a grain filter on this one after I was done with coloring....Sometimes I use a LOT of layers and play with the values as I go. I just haven't settled on a solid technique 🤣🤣
