They always know the answer!!
I drew this up after a heated argument on FM. Seems two people, one Irish, one British. Who seem to know whats best, know all the 'proper thought' for Americans to live and follow.
That they know more about American politics, laws, rules and life in general, than Americans do. That they feel that their expertise outstrips those that were born and raised here. That what ever the current situation is, know the answers, and we don't. Its like a mechanic telling a brain surgeon how to do surgery, or a dishwasher telling a lawyer how to conduct themselves in court. Or even a CEO of a major company who's never gotten his hands dirty, tell a farmer how to raise his crop.
YET if we try and discuss British Parliament, we were told to Sod off, because we were dumb Americans that shouldn't stick their noses in THEIR Politics.
Plus after the Tucson shooting, THEY knew more about gun laws, gun ownership and the situation involved THAN THE LOCALS!!
Plus anybody who even remotely argued against them were arrogant assholes that should shut the fuck up.
Its bad enough when outsiders tell you how to live when they are in reality, clueless about the customs, laws of your area. But Foreign citizens get involved....I draw the line.
in This case...the strip.

Ok, I didn't know that. You don't see many British shows in the rest of Europe. None at all in Germany - if you don't count old Monty Python episodes -, so I councluded that they weren't exported. However, if it's only British shows, my theory isn't completely proofed wrong.
there was a time when BBC shows were quite popular in germany. unfortunately these days they either produce crappy pseudo-docu stuff or buy US series which look like already-seen.
the only german shows which are ever exported are Derrick, Tatort, and Autobahnpolizei. shedding blood and smashing things, groovy...

I hope they saw this and choke. Have to agree with you. If those two tools think they know so much about how we live here, then they should allow us to tell them how they live. It's only fair. I might get some of it wrong, but I'm betting we would know more about their culture than they know of ours. Or better yet, leave their home land and teach us colonials how to live. (I bet they'll be surprise how many people'll laugh at them.)
Oh dear God, that freaking reminds me of this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbc064Uwax4
It's just embarrassing to watch and listen to.

I said that to a Britisher once.....apparently their schools teach them we didn't do anything for them and refused to believe we saved their asses from anything. It truly is an issue of one's perspective. Not having lived in the USA and getting all news from here filtered by their local media, they have no real understanding of the complex political issues we have.
As a movie buff, and a Military movie buff, thats one movie I refuse to own, its so stupid. Allegedly based on mixes of the Brits capturing a U-Boat somewhere in the med and the US Carrier group capturing the U-505.
Still a sucktacular film.
That and Memphis Belle...were everything the plane went through on all 25 missions happen on the last mission...won't own that film either.

I'm not denying that the US where bound to enter the war. You had thight diplomatic bonds to Great Britain and denying help would have been completely unthinkable. So the war was brought to the US with its start. It was a matter of internal politics at that time that the US only delivered supplies to Europe but didn't activly join until some passanger liners where sunk.
Conclusion: What I said was a joke.^^

Yeah, I ran into one like that on FM. Knew exactly how to 'fix' American businesses (esp. Disney) while admitting to being perpetually unemployed and 'on the dole'. Un-freaking-believable.
But then the Internet does bring out the worst in that way, not like that's saying much.

The English decide to do that too. They like celebrating St Patrick's Day more than St George's Day, since the former involves consuming masses amounts of alcohol. This is why I gave up my British accent and trained myself to speak with an American one. It annoys the FUCK out of my Sister!!
I do know that the English speaking worlds tends to be heavily influenced by American Media. As such every armchair political tends to form opinions on US politics. Some of them are obviously a little more "unhinged" then others.
Personally I find it best not to speak up about relgion/politics unless you really are in the mood for some serious debating/arguing/fist fighting/gun battle ><

Unfortunately, considering how shoddy our education system is, and how how little many Americans seem to care about our own government, a lot of non-natives really DO know more then the natives.
Still doesn't give them a right to shove an opinion down someone else's throat though.

Ah, but the difference is here:
A 'foreigner' who has and expresses an opinion, even a heartfelt one, about how things go in the US is fine, as long as they're also willing to (a) pick up additional information/viewpoints, (b) engage in honest debate about the topic, © can logically support their arguments, and (d) willing to listen to alternate viewpoints on their own country's situation in a calm and rational manner.
By contrast, one who (a) says "you're all just dumb 'm'r'kins who need to be saved from yourselves by us," (b) says that anybody who disagrees with them is stupid or dishonest, © fall back on "we know better than you do" for every problem in their plan you come up with and (d) screams about American arrogance the instant you say something about *their* country's situation is just being a prick.

Ever notice anytime something bad happens with a gun its all over the news, but no one ever talks about the good things that happen. Like stopping robberies and the like. Its like the media and anything they can sensationalize, furs, gays, tea party, and anything else that will get people biting at each others throats.
Hah I really 'love' all the European bashing on this thread so far. I think the word 'stereotypes' is what everyone is missing. You're taking one person and strapping it to an entire country. Religion and politics are a circular debate, which ends in who can yell the loudest to prove they are right. A sport for hypocrites to be sure. Which pretty much is in line with the picture.
Secondly, most US citizens do not own a passport and have never traveled internationally, therefore, the media is your only information source of how governments in other countries do things. I'm a Brit living in the US and a US citizen by birth, I don't claim to have all the answers but I can tell you that things aren't rosy in the UK either at the moment. Highest obesity levels in Europe, highest teen pregnancy rates and the highest teen binge drinking rates. Ireland is practically collapsing and was just bailed out. No country is free from criticism.
There are going to be idiots giving you their opinion, whether you feel like hearing it or not, simply because, they are, as a person, obnoxious.
Stupid people will always be stupid.

"Or even a CEO of a major company who's never gotten his hands dirty, tell a farmer how to raise his crop!"
That's a good old tradition in Europe, raisend during the Age of Enlightenment. That's when wealthy noblemen started to tell farmers how to keep their animals in a proper, resonable way and showed carpenters how to build a sturdy roof. For some strange reason this era is seen as glorious, so let's keep that nice tradition.

It DOES seem like "America Bashing" is the hot new Internet fad, isn't it? I mean, yeah, I've got problems with a lot of things we've done before, but this is just getting fucking ridiculous...I suppose it's a "what comes around" thing considering all the French-bashing that's gone on before.
