The Drekir of Star Den were both shocked and elated to see Hiker, Forl, and Ralan all come back... with a dragon of Paradise and were quick to officially welcome them back into their community. Though that excitement turned to horror as Hiker recounted what happened in the Mountains, and the trauma and nightmares that The Dragon've Paradise had left in its wake and how many memories they had lost. In spite of Spurs best efforts, the idols they had prepared seemingly did nothing for her. Shaking him and his role as the pasyer've paradise to its core.
But that didn't stop the Broncens of Star, through thick and thin they did everything they could to help hold Hiker up, many months of long nights riddled with the nightmare filled yelps and wimpers and many days just being there for Hiker to help them through the hollowest and worst of days. Over time she began to slowly do better, held together by the love of her den and her home she started piecing what was left of herself back together.
Years began to pass and, seemingly, The Dragon've Paradise had left them in peace, eventually Hiker would take on a new name, Riyat, thanks to her knack for fishing with her trusted throwyer. As the 5th year passed by she would regularly be found planting potatoes, spearing fish, and lounging with her denmates in relative peace, save for the occasional teal steel that wandered through in the early spring. Though she always kept a nervous eye towards the cattails near the rivers, never sure if she was being watched or not.
So yeah a positivish ending for the last Different Trail
This one assumes that, after The Dragon of Paradise, instead of going to the Perrineans, Hiker and Forl instead tentatively settled to go back home after such a traumatizing event and that that would be where they would remain, never quite sure whether or not Shõlresa would pull them into the mountains again or not. But regardless she would still settle in as a beloved and supported member of the Star Den, and the broader Broncen community.

Yeah Jat in any case has a lot of issues to work through.
It would definitely be something that would shake him to his core no doubt. Though he wasn't necessarily cool with his god to begin with as seen in Respite, it's just the god they gotta work with.
a horrid relationship when you see the results of the river gods actions. Probably less a minor crisis and more a spiraling crisis

Ah ! Less a "Be praised, you great protector" kind of relation, and more of a "Please spare us your wrath, please don't let your gaze linger upon us" one. Must be stressful to be the religious figurehead then, you probably at least partially blame yourself when bad thing happen when it's related to godly matter.
This make his role less of a representative of the god(s), and more of a protector of the den, an enlightened guide. Uh, guess the title of pasyer've is quite the good metaphor then, since he help people traverse the treacherous water that are Paradise mood. Cool.

Broncen cosmology doesn't really place gods as good or bad, just forces of nature that make the world work. Even Paradise is believed to bring good things and bad things in their cosmology. Paradise makes the rivers run, plants grow and animals flourish and, unfortunately, it also needs to eat to keep things going. Unfortunately it sometimes hungers for drekir, and sometimes your own denmates.
There is a reason Broncens have a variety of local beliefs and customs surrounding how to deal with Shõlresa that were all seen in respite. They see it as depressing, and many may become disillusioned with the gods. But they aren't things you worship, they are things that you try and do your best to help your community through. They aren't things to be controlled or reasoned with.
Each clan (Made of several dens of differing age groups) has one pasyer for each one of the 3 dragons and outside of specific cultural rituals and ceremonies, are mostly there to interpret and understand messages of the god they specialize in as well as to try and send messages back to them from the community. Though surely as a representative of that god, Spur no doubt feels a lot of guilt and stress over what the god he represents is doing to his own denmates.
Its an emotionally shit situation

Yeah, it's easy to tell oneself that there is nothing one can do when it come to force of nature. It's just harder to do so, when you said force of nature can be talked to and respond. It's really interesting too, how they have a different relationships with the fourth "god", the dragon've low. With this one they seem much more proactive, and actively fight it, or at the very least distract it, every now and then. (wasn't there also a thing about chasing away mana-eating spirit that was related to the dragon've low ?)
