Paw Fashion 8: 'Elgren' armored boot
Here we have another pawboot with a rather specific purpose. This is how I envision a medieval or renaissance period armored boot looking on dragon paws. My knowledge of period armor design is admittedly somewhat minimal, but I like to think this would offer decent protection from most angles you'd be likely to have a blade come at you from. Much more importantly, it just looks cool.
The toes are left open for maximum dexterity on the battlefield, yet individually armored for protection. I gave the boots a heel spike too, short enough to not get in the way, but it could be useful as an improvised weapon because you can never have too many of those.

I'm actually thinking of doing that later on. :) I'm happy enough with how the paws turned out for this whole project that I might extend up from them and turn it into an updated full body portrait of my anthro self. It'll eventually get posted here too when I get around to it!
Armour plating... nice! Interesting that the leather (or whatever material it might be) on the sole looks thin - sorta makes it clear the business end of the foot is the plated top for kicking, and keeps it more comfortable for running (like running in Vibrams type shoes instead of heavy military boots). The toes still showing makes it sexy, but also practical in that the claws are still free and easy to use in a fight.
That was all my thinking too, yeah. :) You want those plates protecting the toes from weapons, but if you've still got your claws out they're another weapon you can use. And the sole I pictured as kind of tough leather to resist wear, but still fairly soft. Part of that is just because I imagined this as a more historical period boot where higher-tech rubber soles or whatnot might not be possible, but as you say it also would keep things more comfortable and it's the higher parts of the boot where you're likely to be taking blows anyway.
