Oozora Maryu was the 15th Dark Horror Robot Kaiju and the Monster of the week in the 11th Episode of the original Dino Mech Gaiking anime, "Don't Cry, Hachiro".

_Appearance and Abilities_
Operated by the Eccentric Zela Scientis and later converted Dark Knight Madmat, Oozora Maryu was built for the purpose of destroy the Daiku Maryu itself, though Madmat used a Plasma Energy Sphere called the Magic Fireball to cause considerable damage in the vessel – making Madmat the first Zela to truly had damage and knocked out the Daiku Maryu in combat. Its design seems to mix a Chameleon and a Fish, with a row of massive dorsal fins on its back; it sport a Green Body and Red Legs scheme with light brown claws for feet; it had blue eyes and an extra pair of light brown tails with black tips on the side of its main one, as well contain teeth on its open mouth.

Oozora Maryu had a canon on its mouth from which fired the Magic Fireball and possessed a retractable blade coming out of its forehead. On the sides of its body it had thruster attached to retractable wings for flight, although Oozora didn't need these once it was fighting the Daiku Maryu in Space. Oozora Maryu main form of attack was to ram an enemy by trying to cut it with its Blade.

Despite been as massive as the Daiku Maryu, the Oozora Maryu was in the end a weak Robot as it was dispose along with Madmat easily by the Gaiking with Saur Geyser.

Hachiro lies playing in the beach with a operable Remote control Daiku Maryu toy created by Sakon – though the boy feel not satisfied with it, as his true desire is to be a pilot like the rest of the team, but gets a minor tease from Sanshiro, Midori and Yamagatake.

Elsewhere one of the Grotestar arrive over the skies of Tokai, holding in the Eccentric Zela Scientist Madmat, who shows them the power of his creation; a Plasma Energy Sphere called the Magic Fireball, and chooses a Photon Power plant as its test subject. His first projectile totally misfires and flies all the way to Texas, but the second hits on the mark, causing a catastrophic explosion of the power plant, killing everyone in it – including a colleague of Dr. Daimojin, Dr. Nakadaira. The incident attracts the attention of Team Daiku Maryu who takes off, leaving Hachiro behind; much trying to convince him, Pete points out for the need of Hachiro on the ship. (FINALLY, the one adult who questions the bringing your kids to dangerous missions policy). Hachiro is left a note behind much to his frustration.

Back on Planet Zela, Madmat over praised his accomplishment of the Magic Fireball test – the purpose of the projectile is too seek and overload any reactor, causing a powerful chain reaction. Madmat even throws a jab at the Generals for not successfully destroying the Daiku Maryu in the past – despite the anger of the Generals to the comment, Darius interdict, as long it destroys the ship he won't complain, willing to give anything the scientist seeks as long it succeeds. Madmat is then taken to be converted into a Dark Knight, not what he had in mind, which was cash.

Returning to Earth, Madmat, now a Dark Knight, arrives in a human disguise, with the mission to seek out the exact location of the Engine Room with in the Daiku Maryu, a task he well aware not suited for, when he stumbles upon Hachiro playing with his Toy; the two begin on conversation convincing the child he is a friend and colleague of Dr. Daimojin (calling himself Madoi), tasked with building a new Daiku Maryu vessel, which intrigues the child and takes him to his home.

Later, the Daiku Maryu returns to base from its investigation of the destruction of the Photon Power Plant, assuming the plant fell victim to a new Zela Weapon and hold a moment of silence for the late Dr. Nakadaira, as it is reveal he provided great help in the development of the Daiku Maryu itself. Midori and Sanshiro looked for Hachiro, only finding the Toy Maryu, but before they could interrogate any further the report comes in of the now found misfired Magic Fireball in Texas, and the team reassembles to take off to North America.

Meanwhile, led astray by Madmat's lies, Hachiro provides information of the interior of the Daiku Maryu (unbeknownst he is been watch by Dark Avian agents) – he even expressed to have his own robot, which Madmat humors a bit, thus giving the exact location of the Engine Room. Later, and much of the protest of the Generals, Madmat keeps true to his "bargain" and takes the boy blindfolded (stranger danger, children!) through the Zela facility to his robot, inside the Dark Horror Monster Oozora Maryu. After boarding the Hachiro Robot, the Oozora takes off to combat the Daiku Maryu, which by now has reached Texas in time to see a Tornado pick up the Magic Fireball and sweeping the police away – the heroes go after it into Orbit, with the Oozora Maryu on its tail and catching on, realizing they had fallen into another Zela trap. Hachiro wanting to show off his robot takes off only to realize, its just a toy, and the magnitude of his mistake as Madmat reveals himself and his Beasts.

Madmat fire his Magic Ball onto the Daiku Maryu and reaches the Engine Room, causing an explosion that takes the ship out of combat; a drift and helpless, Oozora Maryu brings out its blade - Madmat motivated by Money – hits the Daiku Maryu in multiple ramming strikes. Hachiro tries to help with missiles, only to discover these are useless too. Realizing Hachiro is outside in space and with the situation getting worst, Sanshiro launches the Gaiking for Combat; with the Monster trying to make a strike onto it, Sanshiro fires Saur Geyser beam onto the Oozora, disposing of it and Madmat quickly.

A tearful and remorseful Hachiro apologies for everything and Sanshiro, understandably, comforts him.
